Surely you jest, sir!
Wow. You need to vote from Drumpf.
I don’t see how there can be a Trump/Cruz ticket. How would so many people that have demonized Cruz backpedal fast enough to press the button and vote for it?
The biggest problem I’ve had is that it looks like most of the vocal Cruz supporters just have trust issues with Trump. We look at very liberal things that he has said and actions he has done in support of them and we see too many flip flops. We understand Trump supporters wanting to believe he can and would do all the things he is promising but it feels too good to be true and reminds us too much of Obama’s hope and change. To me it looks like most of the Cruz supporters would vote for Trump in the end.
I can walk back from saying Trump is rude and narcissistic and I hate his orange tan and comb over do. I can walk back from not trusting him, but how do individuals and this board as a whole walk back from the horrible things they say about Cruz? His wife has a job with Goldman Sach and on this board it is said with the same vitriol that a Dummy says Haliburton.. She is the center of a plot for world domination. I’ll never in my life understand why EVERYONE that works for Goldman Sachs is out to destroy us. People saying his daughter hates him and he’s not a good parent. And what tears me up most is using his unapologetic strong Christian beliefs against him and slurring him and other Freepers with GOPe label because we support him.
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents worth. I’ll vote for Trump if I have to.
“I do not believe this issue [border wall] resonates inside the mind of Cruz.”
Bingo
I will vote for Trump if possible. If not, for Cruz.
Cruz, for me, is turning into the least desirable. Articles about the GOPe beginning to think of Cruz as their last hope are troubling.
I supported Cruz from the beginning then Trump came on board. I was swept up by Trump’s statements on illegal immigration and the anti Washington stance. I was ready to vote for any one of them.
Then Trump started getting vulgar.
I supported Cruz until he:
1 - voted for TPA
2 - then lied about it, saying he believed Mitch McConnell
3 - passed out teddybears/soccer balls to illegals
4 - wanted to increase H1B visas 500%
5 - let Glenn Beck hijack his campaign.
Any other questions ?
I think most of the responses have been pretty civil.
The venom towards Cruz is off the charts. It is AMAZING to me that this is what Free Republic has become. All these years I’ve found this site steadfastly conservative. Not now; no way.
Wow, that is C-R-E-E-P-Y , creepy, creepy.
That awkward 1 minute in his 40 minute Iowa victory speech - staring at his mother. Ugh !
Those who are actually hostile against Cruz have their counterparts in those who are equally hostile against Trump - pay attention and it will become obvious enough.
There are many who would rather lose than see their guy's opponent in the Primaries prevail - I call them the pathetic morons (and other choice names) because they seem to be incapable of grasping that reality is not the Black and White that would make everything clear and that throwing another Presidential race for any reason would be the most stupid thing we could do.
Right now, I'm all-in for Trump. If he falls, I'm going to be all-in for Cruz. IMO there are far too many who aren't intelligent enough to grasp that principle and put it into play - their own petty disappointments far outweigh what happens to the Nation.
“I think the GOPe keeps him around because ultimately he brings MORE money to party. This is evidenced by his big money lobbyist donors. Hes been an ally of the Bushes for years. He IS part of the establishment machine.”
Okay, I see your line of thought here. Cruz has been contaminated by some of the GOP establishment supporters joining with him.
By that reasoning, when Trump wins the nomination and some/most/all of the GOP machine and primary voters and financiers get behind him to defeat the Dem when they previously supported someone else, does that now mean that Trump is contaminated also by the GOPe? Or is it better for all the Bush, Christie, Kasich, etc., supporters and financiers continue to not support Trump?
lol
If you saw Cruz’s resume but the name was blocked out it would read like an Establishment hack all the way.
You’ve summed up my reaction to this vanity perfectly.
It’s pointless and I highly doubt the poster really truly is interested in the fine points of what got us here.
Nonetheless, some people just like to hear themselves yammer on, all the while stirring the pot so to say.
What I would find far more interesting would be a minimum of 100 posters in real life, gathered in a hall and talking to one another face to face - that would be far more intriguing to me.
Well it's deeper than that. I think Cruz's loyalties don't lay with the people or the country. I think they lay with his ambition first and then to the Republican party. He'll sell out the people in a heartbeat if there's gain for the first two.

I think Trump's loyalty is first and foremost to the country. He has no further need for money, fame or power. He already had all of these and a legacy. I think he uses others to achieve the goal of truly making American great again. It's not just a slogan. He grew up and saw with his own eyes how much opportunity there WAS in this country. He watched over the last couple of decades as the country kept lurching in the wrong direction and finally said enough is enough.
Hi reaganaut! Long time no see.
I’m well. So much happening on every front personally and seemingly around the world too. Grandkids showed up suddenly. Four years, four kids. A delight. Glad we know who holds the future.
And you? How are things in your world?
I admired Sen. Cruz and began contributing to his eventual presidential campaign. Since then, DJT entered the race and addressed subjects that I care deeply about, illegal immigration, the Iran treaty, TTP, repealing Obamacare, Muslim refugees, etc. The GOP was definitely embarrassed and appalled at his campaign.
In the meantime, Sen. Cruz was sounding like a regular politician, plus, my Inbox was filled with 4 or 5 emails a day, asking for more money. Then, there were the 4 or 5 phone calls and two or three letters each week, begging for additional contributions. Then came the preachy tone to his voice at times, and Glenn Beck, a total nut job, and Goldman Sachs, entered the fray. A major block for me is the Canadian citizenship. If he had to denounce another country in order to become an American citizen, then he is NOT eligible to become president of the United States of America. Period.
All this time, I was put off by Trump’s brashness but he kept echoing my thoughts. About a month ago, I decided that I would vote for Trump but I am still contributing to the Cruz campaign each month. I will end that if he meets with Jeb.
Things are great. Loving being a new mom and a retired snowbird at the same time. Miss my mom (she passed last summer a few weeks before I had my daughter), but busy cleaning up her houses and running the farm.
the evidence is all over the pro-CRUZ, anti-TRUMPT threads. you just don’t want to see it
