New footage has emerged that was taken by one of the passengers in the car with LaVoy Finicum that detail his final moments during an encounter with Oregon State Police and the FBI.

The public deserved to have the video, with audio and sound, released immediately after the shooting. Now we know why it wasn’t released: the public would have heard the shots that the government didn’t want it to hear. The government should not be afraid of the public asking questions. They should encourage it. Discourse, dialogue, and criticism of the government are the bedrock of democracy.
The post-shooting FBI press conference was all to prejudice the jury, which is exactly why attorneys need to be able to speak on behalf of their clients. The answer is more speech not less. There is no prejudice of a jury when facts are released that would be heard by the jury anyway. The FBI was picking and choosing those facts. That is wrong.
Now we know why the Government is seeking a protective order trying to gag Ammon Bundy from talking about discovery.
In State v. Oliphant, this Oregon case discusses a person’s right to use physical force against a police officer in self-defense during an arrest. In Oregon, a person’s right to use force in self-defense depends on a person’s own reasonable belief in the necessity for such action, not whether the force used or about to be used on him actually was unlawful. The key here is the defendant’s reasonable belief. If a reasonable person in Finicum’s position would have believed that the use or imminent use of force against him exceeded the force reasonably necessary to affect the arrest, then he was entitled to defend himself from that use of force, i.e., by grabbing for a weapon.
The mere voicing of frustration with the government coupled with an assertion of the lawful authority to defend oneself against attack, is not a threat. But shooting at a stopped vehicle is. Finnicum wouldn’t have known that it was a less-than-lethal round. They just perceived gunshots and fled.
If the Federal Government knew that this alleged cover-up was happening, why did the FBI continue to lead the investigation? Why didn’t they bring in Deschutes County to investigate the protest site? Grant County? ATF? Anyone but the FBI who was under criminal investigation themselves.
They knew who he was.
They knew where he was living and where he was going.
His driving posed no kind of threat until he was boxed in.
And no one had been involved with any kind of life-threatening felony.
Just because he said they were going to have to kill him didnt give them the freedom to do so or even make it necessary.

Same deal Rodney King got. But Finicum was known, well, presumed, to be armed.
“They all knew who he was.” That is the scary part. If you do the research like they supposedly did, would you see that he is a “dangerous criminal worthy of killing” or would you see that he was a God fearing, family loving, respectful, freedom loving, American Patriot? He was all about teaching the Constitution and the Rule of Law. This is very troubling.
Do you suppose they knew that in his book the story starts Jan 27th? Was killing him on the 26th planned for that reason or just an oddity/coincidence?
They knew that the Protesters were making every attempt to be peaceful and open about what they were doing. They were meeting with elected officials and members of the community.
A Congressional hearing was held in Utah on Jan 22, 2016 addressing some of the issues that LaVoy pointed out in his You tube videos. This is testimony to validate LaVoy Finicums insistence that the federal agencies were harming the citizens. I believe he had already run a roadblock at that point, inviting a felony stop. You don’t want to invite a felony stop. That the PO’s were ready for it, in a place of their choosing, makes it easy to kill him, if that was their goal.
Compliance is the key. Any lib that says Finicum got what he deserved has to admit the same of Rodney King.
I thought this morning, the FBI determined LaVoy was worth exterminating, what exactly was he doing that made him such a threat to the “authorities”?? He must have done something to poke the hornets nest? They set up an illegal kill zone with the intent to take him out. Just what was he working on that made him that valuable as a target?

Really? Some spike strips on the road after the first barricade probably would have prevented Finicum from getting to the second. Seems to me someone wanted a felony stop, with cameras rolling.
My experience with OSP is that they're stealthy and wear navy blue. I know people that wave at them hiding in the woods when they see their binoculars reflect sunlight. One asked a guy who he was waving at, and flatly refused to believe he'd been spotted. In this instance, I would think the gear, cars and machine guns would be a give-away.
Are you confusing utility uniforms with the dress uniform and Smokey the Bear hat they wear for traffic stops?

Looks like Ammon (& LaVoy) were gathering folks to push back against the feds .
Plus LaVoy and companions were enroute to the neighboring county sheriff, who was amenable to hearing their side of things.
That’s why the feds did the ambush when they did; wanted to nip it in the bud.
But.... To paraphrase a line from Princess Leia in Star Wars
‘The more you (feds/the Empire) squeeze, the more they (the ranchers&people/Alliance) will slip thru your fingers’

I’ve tried to pay a little attention to this since the beginning but the latest releases of info have me spun up and pissed!
Iv’e been educating myself on who LaVoy was and what he was trying to do and say. An hour of internet time on youtube listening to him talk about freedom and the way our government is supposed to vs. how it is suposed to be working....the trouble he has had with the Feds on his ranch... ...would do any American good. Hearing is character and the love he has for his family and friends, his acknowledgement of our Creator and praise for what he has been blessed with. And his love for this country!
I believe he was a very simple spoken man that could not easily be refuted and was a true American patriot.
The government conspired to murder him and did it, then ruled it justified.
Every man can be pushed. This just clarifies the fact that our government is legally perfect in pushing a man until he gives them justification to kill him.
The fact that he claimed “Give me Liberty, or give me death” just before we shot him 3 times in the back is just like a huge cherry on top for the jack boots.
