New footage has emerged that was taken by one of the passengers in the car with LaVoy Finicum that detail his final moments during an encounter with Oregon State Police and the FBI.

Near as I can tell, they had already put at least four rounds into the truck before it left the roadway. Another round came through one of the windows as he exited the vehicle. How did he respond? Well, maybe he was mouthing off, but he walked at least twenty yards through deep snow with his hands as high in the air as he could get them.
So, let’s not pretend that he was the one firing at them. It was them shooting at him, from the moment he rounded that curve in the road.
He never had a gun in his hand, not once, and the only thing he fired off were a few words.
Last time I checked mouthing off is not a capital offense.
I’ve seen no real proof that he was going for a weapon. But even if he was there’s no way the guy who rushed him from the woods and dropped him could have known that. He had his back to him.
Do they flash the lights different for those so you can tell them from Misdemeanor Traffic Stops?
I know....You got to wonder.....
This is incorrect, as shown in my post #204.
They did in Ferguson Missouri. And Dallas.
Seems to me that our Constitution said that the reason we have the right to be armed is because the government will try to take away our rights.
“If you and your Sheriff arrange to meet, would YOU go to the meeting?”
If it’s abundantly clear that multiple agencies are he11-bent on my arrest, and the meeting was arranged for somewhere requiring a long drive thru back roads, then “NO”.
We all know that under such situations, the LEO’s job isn’t to negotiate and work thru the fine & obscure legal details of old offenses, it’s to get the suspect into a cage. There was reason to apprehend him. There had been attempts to apprehend him. Furtive movements at gunpoint, whatever the preceding events, WILL GET YOU SHOT. Maybe someone shot at him earlier without proper cause (seems there’s disagreement over whether it was a “nonlethal” item). At the second roadblock, he had opportunity to submit to arrest, and he didn’t, and he did something anyone here should comprehend WILL GET YOU SHOT.
There are phones. There are radios. There are plenty of ways to communicate without a face-to-face meeting requiring an easy-to-ambush trip.
Were I in his situation, he11 no I wouldn’t get in a car and drive to such a meeting - there’s way too many trigger-happy people out there setting up a takedown. At that stage of the standoff, all the cops want to do is apprehend the leader, dead or alive.
I am related to someone in law enforcement who thinks the cops/FBI did Everything wrong! He is disgusted with the whole situation and cover up too.
” he walked at least twenty yards through deep snow with his hands as high in the air as he could get them.”
And then he made two dramatic movements to get at something under his bulky jacket, while at gunpoint. That’s a “furtive movement”, he was trying to reach for something consistent with reaching for a gun in his left pocket, and police now claim they found a gun in his left pocket. Dunno what video you’re looking at, but what I see is plainly furtive movement by someone apparently trying to live up to his repeated declaration that they’re gonna have to shoot him.
They wear distinctive blue uniforms, with blue Mountie hats.
It's a safe bet Finicum knew what they looked like.
These guys didn't look like Oregon state police, but they claimed they were.
People are always advised to proceed to a known law enforcement location/building when confronted by possible LEO imposters.
So why is that not OK in this instance?
WTF? Where do these people come up with this stuff?
People come up with this stuff by observing what you refuse to acknowledge.
LaVoy knew that in the eyes of the authorities he was breaking the law.
LaVoy saw that those who surrendered at the first stop were taken into custody without violence, and would have their day in court (which is where patriotic Americans resolve their legal disputes).
LaVoy refused to surrender and instead more than 10 times told the police to shoot him.
LaVoy told the police that help was coming and that there would be a "bloodbath".
LaVoy fled the police and, when forced to stop, exited his truck, refused to surrender, and when he appeared to reach inside his jacket was shot.
All this after making a point of saying that he would die before he went to prison.
That's where they come up with this stuff.
So the LEO’s took it upon themselves to disregard anything the Sheriff had setup???
Really trustworthy law enforcement, huh????
The whole situation is disgusting. It all started with a legitimate grievance, then a whole lotta people dumped a whole lotta stupid into the mix. He never should have left the building, they should never have created a situation which inevitably escalated to how it ended. He wasn’t going to comply, they weren’t going to let him go, each egged the other on.
It's a shame they don't have any audio - even though there was a guy with what appeared to be a video camera inside the group of vehicles mere feet away.
Tip: you can use the back end of the truck as a reference - a pickup truck ass-end is 6 feet wide. :)
His wife said she doesn’t believe he was reaching for a firearm but was grabbing his leg as he was shot there.
It's been part of this whole thread, but you have limited yourself to only debating the moment the camera video starts until it ends. Which.... is OK.
it is simply not relevant to the question of whether or not Mr. Finicum should have complied with law enforcement officers who were doing their jobs to arrest him.
This whole incident is based on the fact that he was protesting the actions of law enforcement. One can see why he might not be cooperative.
Nobody went into that confrontation looking for a gunfight - well, nobody but Lavoy Finicum.
Rather one sided gun fight, I must say. Don't remember seeing a gun in his hand nor hearing him fire a single shot.
After he'd been shot at by unidentified men, which YOU refuse to acknowledge.
He was daring the dirty little yellow-back camothugs to shoot, because he was a brave man, confronted with disguised cowards, pretending to be "Oregon state police".
REAL Oregon state police are instantly recognizable.

The ambush was set up by non-Sheriff LEOs. They had orders to arrest him, they got wind he was en route somewhere, they don’t care about the details.
Trustworthy? since when should a suspect “trust” LEOs who’s job it plainly is to simply catch the suspect and stick him in a cage until a judge can sort out the legal nuances? We all know cops will, as SOP, say anything to induce a suspect to risk arrest - and then arrest him. I’d not be surprised at all if the Sheriff was part of the setup: just convince Finicum to leave the building and drive somewhere he could be ambushed and arrested, shot if he does ANYTHING remotely threatening.
You can’t tell that from the drone footage. Not at all. For all you know, he caught a round about then.
Do you think you could keep your hands up after you’ve been shot?
I’m astounded that there are folks on this site who are making excuses for a government sanctioned murder of a U.S. citizen!
