A jury awarded $55 million to Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews in her lawsuit against a Nashville Marriott hotel on Monday.

Andrews sued the hotel alleging it acted negligently when allowing a man who was stalking her to book the room next to hers and surreptitiously film nude videos of her in 2008 while she worked for ESPN. The stalker, Michael David Barrett, posted the videos online and pleaded guilty to stalking charges, for which he was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

So, what if the guy just said I’m a crew member with her and asked to be put next to her...no number given...

She should be paying them millions for how much the nude pictures increased her, ahem, exposure. She became a much bigger celebrity.

Ad hominem attacks are not cool here. Ask site owner Jim Robinson if you don't believe me.
You are still a FreeRepublic newbie, so we will let you slide on your attack posts, ealgeone.

Built-in personal flotation devices!

I think there's enough buoyancy for a second person if need be...(hold the floatation device to your chest and breath normally...)

Then run go and cry to him if you can't handle it.

BTW...I've been around since 2009.

I haven’t followed this case in detail.

What I want to know is how did this guy get a room next to hers, how would Marriott even know this guy was stalking her?

They sued Marriott for the deep pockets but are they really responsible?

Come from a proud, law-abiding, conservative, Republican family.

Guess that law-abiding part is selective.

It's Republicans that usually stand up for the defense and honor of women.

I believe case law indicates that as the property owner you are liable for what happens on your property.

You are entitled to a degree of privacy in your hotel room much as you are in your own home.

Marriott knowingly gave out her room number without checking as to the relationship. Even then, they still should not give out the number.

I know when I travel with colleagues if I don't know the room number I give their name and I'm connected.

On the bright side, maybe she will now retire and go away.

She is nice to look at, but her voice is very, very irritating... a high pitched squeal.

I have tinnitus, and everytime she talks, my ears hurt.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict several things.

First, the CEO, who viewed the pictures in the restaurant, is quitting, was put on notice that he was going to be let go or will be fired (with a golden parachute).

The stalker will declare bankruptcy and not pay anything (51%) but his complete plaintiff friendly testimony will be appreciated and they will not try to collect anything.

The large number of Peeping Toms and stalkers out there will greatly appreciate the detailed explanation (and MSM generated diagrams and technical explanation) of how he accomplished it.

Overall, the whole case has a smell of complicity about it.
