More horses heads? The beginning of a new Godfather trilogy scheduled for 2016
Paramount Pictures, one of the biggest players in Hollywood made a huge announcement this morning that will no doubt drive film fans into a frenzy 44 years after its release, the legendary mafia crime-drama The Godfather is getting a remake and whats more, the flick is starring none other than Johnny Depp himself.
In the press release, Paramount Pictures revealed that they had been planning a remake since 2002, but that they had not been able to find anyone who they thought could live up to Marlon Brandos august performance in the original. This is what Francis Ford Coppola, the director of the 1972 film as well as the upcoming remake, had to say: You know when you got a film as successful and as influential as The God Father, theres this unspoken rule in Hollywood that youve got to make a remake and relaunch the story for a new generation. I am not ashamed of this, its what we do in Hollywood and its a great opportunity to create a new exciting version. This project has been on the drawing board for almost 15 years and I was just about to give up on it until 2010 when I saw The Tourist in the cinemas and saw Depps energy and fire, I knew I wanted him to be Vito Corleone. Five years later, we are well into production and are expecting a 2016 release. Working with Depp is a blessing and he is really nailing his role!

The remake of Willy Wonka with Johnny Depp was an abomination.
Now the Godfather? Sheesh.
Why can’t they leave classics alone?
This is so stupid.
I am reading a best seller right now that would make an excellent movie.
It involves lawyers, Jamestown Colony, Shakespeare, the Russian Mob, sex, ancient encrypted manuscripts, murder, torture, academia, New York City, and hapless good guys caught in a web of intrigue. I am only halfway through, but it would make an excellent flick.
Why recycle old stuff when there is good stuff out there?
Besides...the Godfather is one of my favorite movies and I can’t imagine anyone else in those roles.
Especialy not Johnny Depp..Ew.
“Token minorities, Gay/Lesbian subplot/ , bad”
Will we ever get a line like this:
In my city, we would keep the traffic in the dark people, the coloreds. They’re animals anyway, so let them lose their souls.

It is also being asserted that this is a fake claim being circulated.
Fake.
I actually agree with your points but by token I meant “non applicable for the sake of storyline”. Which happens all the time in period pictures.
The kiss was symbolic not homosexual. For centuries there were man kisses that were symbolic. Putin kisses a childs stomach during a church mass every year. Nothing homo about it except those ill informed and wishing to include their own homoerotic fantasy to it.
By token I meant non applicable at all to the story line which is always 100% obvious.
Did you see “Black Mass”? Depp’s performance as Whitey Bulger is quite chilling.
THE EIGER SANCTION!!!! Rest in peace George Kennedy!
How about a Social Justice Warrior version - starring Katlyn Jenner.
Johnny Depp doesn'tt have the Depp to play The Godfather
Some movies are works of art and should never be remade. IMHO, The Godfather is clearly on that list.
Unfortunately, most movies are pieces of crap and should never have been made in the fist place. It is easier to bet on a remake of a successful movie (even though most remakes suck) than it is to bet on something original.
What?! Not a transgender?! I’m so offended!
Wow, guess i did just describe the Eiger Sanction LOL.
THAT would be the perfect movie for HACK J.J. to re-make.
Keanu might be good for Fredo, not Michael. Not sure if I mean that or not.
Johnny Depp can play any role you want, including Mae West. /sarc
I can’t take any more. Obama, Hillary, Romney, Bernie, Fox News, and now this atrocity.....
