Hollywood was destructive to Peggy and it remains so today.

So sad. Hollywood just chews up and spits out child actors and actresses. Nothing has changed since the days of Baby Peggy. So many child stars end up having terrible lives as adults.

I agree, although great makeup and/or digital enhancement may be involved (see: H.R. Clinton)

Last year TCM ran some Baby Peggy classics and shorts. She was a very gifted child star. One scene had her in a burning house, and the set was actually a burning house and she and another actress had to jump out of a third story window into a fireman’s net, which they actually did, for real. Before jumping, and while the set was literally burning around her, she cried and beckoned to the camera for someone to save her. It was very powerful.
