Last year TCM ran some Baby Peggy classics and shorts. She was a very gifted child star. One scene had her in a burning house, and the set was actually a burning house and she and another actress had to jump out of a third story window into a fireman’s net, which they actually did, for real. Before jumping, and while the set was literally burning around her, she cried and beckoned to the camera for someone to save her. It was very powerful.
