I have read books on Islam from many Authors including Martin Lings, Robt. Spenser , Bill Warner , Stephen Coughlin ,the Koran and the Hadiths by Bukhari. Plus others.
For a person who doesn't want to go overboard like myself, and just wants to get the basics of what is going on with Islam and us Infidels, I would recommend a book by a former Muslim who has converted to Christianity, and changed his name to Mark A. Gabriel.
Mr. Gabriel is a former Egyptian Muslim who was educated at Al Azhar Univ. in Cairo, the most influential Muslim University in the world. He spent 11 years there getting his Bachelors -Masters - and Doctors degree in History and Culture, and Of course a thorough indoctrination into Islam.
Mark Gabriel has plenty of first hand experience all over the Muslim world since he was also a visiting professor from Al Azhar Univ. to Universities in other Muslim countries.
I would recommend reading his book because it is about 200 pages long with easy to read print and not repetitious, and very much to the point.
Besides getting information on Islam he covers some of the goings on around he Muslim world and the threats to us Infidels.
The problem us Infidels have in understanding Islam is the Koran is written out of order, and there is a big difference between the earlier tolerant Mecca Chapters and the later Militaristic killing chapters in the Medina version of the Koran which supersede the earlier chapters. These Jihadi chapters are what motivates the fundamental Muslim Jihadists we have to face in the world today.
I believe this would be a great first book to read on Islam, and a good read for people who already know about the threat Islam poses to all people who don't believe in Allah and Muhammad. - Tom
What’s the name of the book?

Here is another good read on the subject:
Questioning Islam: Tough Questions & Honest Answers About the Muslim Religion (by Peter Townsend)
What is very interesting when you Google this topic is the number of pro-Islam sites that top the search results.
Islam and Terrorism Revised and Updated Edition
By Mark A. Gabriel
Charmin Extra Absorbent 12 pack.
Thinking about the topic, I just had a really evil but really funny idea: in particularly “blue” cities and ones in Europe, publicly burn Korans to provoke an Islamic attack on those “tolerant” cities.
Even if the liberals don’t learn anything from being attacked, it would at least be a popcorn moment. Western so-called “bigots” burn Korans... Muslim monsters burn people alive like that Jordanian pilot. How liberals can equate one with the other is beyond me.
I guess I’ve read the bible so much I don’t need to study Islam very much at all to know where it is from.
I highly recommend books by Bernard Lewis, particularly “What Went Wrong”.
They are not charged with emotion or hatred, they simply explain why things were as they were, and are as they are.
I will check out your suggestions.
The bible is not going to help you understand Islam.
Islam is so different from Christianity that you would have trouble understanding a religion that wants its adherents to kill anyone who won't join it.
Islamic Jihadists are not going to go away.
And Freepers, spare me the Islam isn't a religion its a cult stuff.
Name calling and derogatory statements are not a substitute for knowing what Islam is about.
We have to recognize Islam is a threat to all non Muslims, and resist Islam or we will become victims of its ideology, because its followers are willing to kill and die to further its interests at our expense.
For openers ,we cannot allow fundamental Muslims into our society. -Tom
“In Cold Blood” comes to mind.
There are a lot of books that can be read online.
And that is a good thing.
The reason I buy the books, is I am a slow reader, and if I read them online, I am down the basement and my wife of over 60 years married, is alone upstairs.
So I buy the books, and read them upstairs to spend more time with her.
In between FR posts I am up and down.- Tom
Understanding Islam - easiest way to do that is to spend time living (not touring) in a muslim country.
Turkey, Egypt plus others I’m sure - step outside the city boundary and you are in a very rural area. This is were you want to live - not in the city - you will learn nothing.
To under stand the koran for yourself there is no need to read the host of books the author mentions. Just read the koran, sura by sura, referring to the Hadiths and Sunnahs which chronicle the life and sayings of Muhammad: these are Talibari, Muslim, Isaq and Bukhari; Hadiths are Mohammad’s word to his followers; the Sunnahs are the history of Muhammad’s life whose motto was “Kill, kill, kill.”
The author mentions Bukhari, but that is not enough - the others are required if you really want to understand. Know before you begin that the koran is in two parts which parts are not linear in the koran, but mixed. This is important because Muhammad specifically voided the 1st half (the part containing the single mention of the word ‘love.’
Some of these may be difficult to find, but pretending curiosity and visiting your local mosque where you might find a loaner copy.
“Whats the name of the book?”
Planet of the Apes - Re-imagined
Sub-human muslim extremists finally exterminate the rest of the human race, then devolve through inbreeding until they finally revert to scripture-reading monkeys.
No FOMO if I don’t.
Does Gabriel point out in his book that the God of Creation worshipped by Jews and Christians, and Allah, the deity worshipped by Muslims, are not the same?
Read the papers because just about anywhere there is Terrorism death and Destruction there is is-scam!
