There are a lot of books that can be read online.
And that is a good thing.
The reason I buy the books, is I am a slow reader, and if I read them online, I am down the basement and my wife of over 60 years married, is alone upstairs.
So I buy the books, and read them upstairs to spend more time with her.

I use a tablet for reading...they are quite cheap, as are ebook readers.
And I can make the print huge, which I can’t do with my paper backs. I also can read in bed with the light off, so I don’t disturb my husband. (or did until he died alas a few months ago).

Project Gutenburg has lots of free books, and Librivox will let you download audiobooks of classics for free.
