The last surviving Oz munchkin, Jerry Maren, hasdied at the age of 96. Mr. Maren is best known as one of the Lollipop Guild in the classic 1939 movie version of The Wizard of Oz. But his career lasted long enough for him to have also appeared on TVs Seinfeld.
Born Gerald Marenghi on January 24, 1920, Marens appearance in The Wizard of Oz resulted in a movie career that included the Our Gang comedy Tiny Troubles, The Marx Brothers feature At the Circus, and the notorious all-midget western Terror of Tiny Town. He would often appear in bit parts, but always resonated and did what he could with each role.

well-played. :) and an RIP to him and family. thanks for the memories.
probably replaced by an illegal or a foreign midget brought in via H1-B
I think he used to throw confetti around at the end of the Gong Show
Interesting, I just saw this thread a couple minutes ago while I’m watching a show on the Decades show with Bill Curtis that spends few minutes on each of the Academy Award winners from the 1930s and 40s. They just spoke about gathering midgets from all over the world as part of the filming of Oz.
They tried bringing teachers onto the set for the young munchkins, but the lessons went right over their heads.
Well, I would assume that wraps it up for the cast Wizard of Oz.
Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz were both released the same year. Gone with the Wind still has two living actors, so by a score of two to nothing they win!
Priscilla Montgomery is apparently still alive, so it’s 2-1.
The Examiner article states that reports of his death may be erroneous.
If somebody could Photoshop some cymbals, that would be hilarious.
Some people would think so but I’ve been told I am a supposedly good person despite my not liking WOZ, printers, sports in general, and state fairs. Actually I despise those things.
LOL!
Has the coroner thoroughly examined him?
You are correct. Thanks for the correction.
