Donald Trumps distinctive rhetorical style think of a drunk with a bullhorn reading aloud James Joyces Finnegans Wake under water poses an almost insuperable challenge to people whose painful duty is to try to extract clarity from his effusions. For example, last week, during a long stream of semi-consciousness in Fort Worth, this man who as president would nominate members of the federal judiciary vowed to open up libel laws to make it easier to sue to intimidate and punish people who write negative things. Well. Trump, the thin-skinned tough guy, resembles a campus crybaby who has wandered out of his safe space.
Trump is a presidential aspirant who would flunk an eighth-grade civics exam. More than anything Marco Rubio said about Trump in Houston, it was Rubios laughter at Trump that galled the perhaps bogus billionaire. Like all bullies, Trump is a coward, and like all those who feel the need to boast about being strong and tough, he is neither....

“Not how I see it. You are being disingenuous for the chance to attack Trump.”
I have his own words!!! I’ve never seen anything like this. You can show his supporters his own words and they won’t believe
I’ll admit when he first came on the scene I thought it was cool to see someone poke his finger in the eyes of the establishment and political correctness. But I’ve seen beyond that and what I see is scary. Many of us in 2008 predicted BHO would be bad for the country. Were we wrong?
>> I guess he was good on recycling and he had some ideas about energy conservation <<
You mean Carter?
For sure, his wearing a sweater on TV was a big contributor to energy conservation.
Also, I liked the idea of cutting off White House lights at night.
Ah, for the good old days!
I agree with you.
My gosh....Johnnie...you just described Trump. I mean,,,if you don't see that...you are blind.
Come on man...you've been here for years...
BTW...Trump has not really been a Conservative, over the years...More like a Chameleon....to get what he wanted?
Who is he? Hope and Change...2.0??
Is he an R..or is he a D....or does it depend on what he wants?
Not a lot of critical thinking going on,...here on FR...for the last many months.
Without the media, Hillary would be behind bars, so your little strawman just lost all his straw and as well as his standing.
What part of Trump saying he wants to “RESTORE” the 1st Amendment do you not understand?
Any luck in finding me what I asked for
I ask you to find me somewhere Donald Trump said that libel laws should remain a state issue in state court
Like I said, if you aren’t willing to listen to his campaign speeches, in their entirety, in context, then you only have yourself to blame for your ignorance. I do not take notes of the exact minute marker during any given speech, it is not my job. It is your job however, that is if you wish to actually make an informed choice, to actually listen to Trump, in context for yourself. Geez, and people wonder why our nation is as screwed up as it is, when people no longer are self responsible, but, being lazy, they rely on others to do that which they should have done for themselves.
Any luck getting off your arse and doing what responsible & informed voters do?
Any luck yet ? Because I can’t find anywhere where Trump wants to make sure libel laws stay in the states and decided by state courts
I’ll wait and see if you have any luck. BTW, I see nothing in Donald Trump statement were he’s talking about restoring the First Amendment. I do see him making plenty of threats
I have and I cannot find what you told me
So it’s my fault that Donald Trump didn’t really say what you claimed he said. oh that’s rich
You told me that Donald Trump actually wants to return libel laws to the states and state courts and keep the federal courts out of them but I cannot find anywhere where he made such a statement
And the reason why I can’t find it because he never said it
You really don’t understand the concept of “context” do you? You might want to learn what it means, then go back and listen, before thinking of resuming this conversation as I have no interest in continuing a conversation with someone who doesn’t even understand the basic concept of “context”.

So still no luck. There was no context in Trump’s words. It was a threat. Listen to the terms he uses. You made a claim about a position he took that he himself never did. I was even trying to help you and tried to find the position you claimed he took. He wasn’t talking about restoring the First Amendment. Threatening media outlets with lawsuits isn’t restoring the 1st Amendment. Protecting a Christian baker’s right to not have to bake a cake for a gay wedding without the threat of a lawsuit is restoring the First Amendment. As is protecting a conservative student on a college campus from faculty backlash for not conforming to their speech codes.
Folks, this is the big problem with Trump. He makes statements that even his supporters know is harmful but instead of disagreeing with him, they soothe themselves by saying people are taking him out of context. They can’t disagree with him because they are too far invested in him. Yet, they’ll tell you all these wonderful things he’s gonna do in the next sentence. So they dismiss his own words but believe in things that have not happened yet. It would be comical if the stakes weren’t so high
You seem to have a problem that few others do. Many GOP politicians like to bash Trump who are on the grease of Wall Street plus other special interest cash and perks.
Trump is an American first. Sadly, many have sold that honor down the drain for the pursuit of personal wealth in elected office.
I love the smell of pizzed off establishment elites on Super Monday !
I support Trump to spite people like George Will.
ME TOO !
