It’s just that Australian culture seems to churn out low class white people.
It’s a sad dynamic, but readily apparent.
I like history, and in reading about the behavior of Aussies in WW2 it becomes clear this behavior is not a new thing.
I thought the Aussies were some damn good fighters in WW2?

Sure, but they also did a lot of bad stuff.
For instance, that time the Australian mainland was attacked by japs in WW2 (Darwin), many townspeople fled inland, only to return hours/days later to find mass looting of homes over large parts of town. Many of the perpetrators were their own military police.
I worked on a large EPC project being built in Aus for several years. It was an $8 billion plant on an island near Gladstone, north of Brisbane.
The Aussies we worked with were laid back - TOO laid back. If something needed to be done immediately, there was always next week. It was a repeating theme that played itself out over and over. My boss called it “Institutional laziness with smile”.
They kinda acted like they couldn’t be fired, as if they were related to the boss, or something.
Writ large I attribute this to culture. They tolerate behaviors that my community would not have tolerated.
