These humans who think they have the power and ability to define who is a “real Christian”, and who is not, make me want to throw up. Only the almighty has that power, and we’re told to “love your fellow ma”, “turn the other cheek”, and “judge not...”. Seems old Rafael, and even the pope are not heeding those teachings.
Rafael, you’re not helping Ted...shut up and go home to Canada, or Cuba.
I’m not sure how your response corresponds to my comment.
Trump has a yuge modesty issue, but it is not like the other candidates have been humble or restrained either. They, or those close to them, are making the same stupid comments about each other.
Frankly, at this point, I’m tired of the lot of them. All I know is that whomever wins the R nomination can’t be worse than the other side.
Very true...credit where credit is due, I guess. LOL
The Cruz camp downturn seemed to start when Beck showed up in Iowa.
They just do not seem to be able to get back on track. Maybe they never were on track. That could explain why Cruz was so quiet for months.
Maybe God is unhappy with the way Team Cruz abuses Christianity for Ceasar’s purposes and not for God’s purposes.
And as a result, God is inclining the heart of voters to place Cruz in third place everywhere he goes.
Trump does not go around saying that those who don’t vote for him are not Christians. Religion is a personal understanding and it is between God and us, no need to interject it in politics. My husband was an atheist but I guarantee you he was a truly Godly man in his own way, he respected the beliefs and choices of others and never badmouthed anyone. I, not being my husband, feel free to say that Cruz Sr. is a religious arrogant.
Cruz, et al., condemn Trump and praise Reagan when it comes to faith. Trump is, and Reagan was, Presbyterian. Why was it OK for Reagan to be Presbyterian but not OK for Trump? Inquiring minds want to know.
evangelicals again ???
well he wasn’t talking about me...I’m not an evangelical whatever that is...
I’m a Christian and I voted for Trump...
Trump, Rubio and Fox's "liar, liar" campaign has had its effect.
So did calling Carson a pathological liar and comparing him to a pedophile.
yes I didn’t tell people they weren’t Christians just because they voted for Romney the Mormon, but many of the RomneyBots are now attacking the Christians who love3 their country and want to have a leader...
Cruz must have had a reason for taking the Beck bait.
Maybe his outlying internals made it clear it was either take every chance he could and hope for the best, or wither without one win.
Does a guy on track pull Beck in? That is a very big question.
“So the title is very misleading, that is not what was actually said.”

Fair enough.
Here is the actual quote from Raphael Cruz:
“If we look at the numbers, those that are people that call themselves born-again Christians that are committed to the lord, we won overwhelmingly among that group. Unfortunately, and this is a message that I have been carrying to America, as you said, for several years; there are too many people in the church that have actually become lax about the word of God, that they are being more concerned with being politically correct than being biblically correct, they have diluted the word of God in order to be palatable to everyone”
Just as there are Protestants who consider Catholics as ‘not real Christians’ one can only pray for Ted’s father and for them to understand that both are Real Christians for having chosen to follow Jesus as our Savior.
Besides, I’m not voting for a cleric to be president, but for a man who understands and follows the constitution.
Ted’s father can go talk to himself in his bathroom for all I care about his opinions.
Totally misleading headline.
Cruz’s daddy did not say what the headline says.
No, but he questions the beliefs of those he is running against, and claims to be some sort of super-Christian. Yes, I know it is hyperbole, but it rubs me the wrong way.
I, not being my husband, feel free to say that Cruz Sr. is a religious arrogant.
Agreed. Just don't make this into "my candidate is more pure than yours", because at this point, they all look like slime.
This was my biggest issue with Cruz.
Lack of wisdom.
When he shut down the gov’t, he was in the moral right.
But who did it hurt?
Conservative government military contractors (most of whom were ex-military) were the hardest hit. Hard working Americans who just needed to pay their mortgage on time.
He terrified senior citizens who were frightened that they weren’t going to get their SS deposit. (My mother and grandmother were on the phone with me daily with fear)
And NONE of these people gave a rat’s @$$ about the point that Cruz was trying to make.
The media played his game like a violin.
He gave the GOP a black eye with that one... with their own base. He should’ve seen the fall-out.
The man has ZERO wisdom.
It’s true. I just look at Cruz’s campaign, and ‘I am more Christian/conservative than you’ seems to be the one note that they’re playing.
It’s a turn-off for more than one reason, especially when there are so many different ways of expressing the Christian faith in the United States, and at least for me, it’s a massive turn-off to try to be pandered to in the form of the lowest common denominator of, if you will pardon the term, generic American evangelicalism.
As for Trump? Well, I’ll say that he did some things that make me shake my head religion-wise. I’m not talking about the ‘Two Corinthians’ crap (because I’ve heard it said like that more than a few times, by pastors who have been in the biz 30+ years even), but my problem is the fact that he seemed to be making Christian liberty the same as American-style liberty, which I’m pretty sure isn’t correct. Also irritable at the whole Kim Davis commentary he did.
As an aside: Oddly enough, Trump has a pretty good chunk of the theology of Holy Communion right on the money.
Back to my point: The difference, I think, is that other than the failed connection attempts—at least failed connection to me, personally—around Iowa, he’s done a pretty good job at addressing the concerns of Christian voters, despite the trips and missteps. Religious liberty, protecting Christian lives in the middle east, defunding the abortion part of PP, in addition to the other more general concerns, such as veterans care and illegal issues.
To put it simply, in the minds of many Christians, Cruz is trying way too hard and coming across as phony, especially when it turns out to be the only card in his hand. Trump isn’t someone you’d want as a pastor or a deacon, and I’d probably want to question him a bit before I let him share in Communion with my flock, but he’s directly addressing our worries and so has our support.
Thanks, Dad. He's just helping to put one in below the water line.
I have watched many, many, many of his stump speeches and of course most are the same.
Early on he talked about his financials being so good, he talks about his polls of course and then the usual diatribe about walls and stuff.
Recently, he's been bring in his family more often. A few times, acts of charity have been brought up by OTHER people and not Trump. His talk at Regent yesterday was interesting because he wasn't in rally mode and was very personable.
I've also heard on SiriusXM that during the New Hampshire time period, he wouldn't leave a restaurant until he met every worker there.
That matches his 1988 interview with Larry King talking about how he likes the people in the street more than the rich people he would associate with. He's definitely a different cat.
It doesn’t match the headline at all. He spoke in generalities which are possibly true.
What’s wrong with you people?
You are so far ahead you are dancing in the streets but you still have to malign Ted Cruz and his father.
