I've been reading FR for years now but haven't ever commented. I genuinely enjoy the commentary. Sometimes it's intelligent. Sometimes it's terrible. But it's always entertaining.
But I have a few questions:
Why does it take so much money to keep FR going? I have numerous sites that cost a couple hundred dollars a year to keep going.
Why is there censorship? Posts and comments at deleted. If they are bad or objectionable, why delete them? Why can't you self police this?

I donate 100 bucks every quarter. I used to read the newspaper and trough it away. This is a wealth of info with no ads! Help out or go away. Ever wonder why you have to pay for Sirius? Duh No commercials. I think Jim ought to lock this site up for paying members only.

There isn’t censorship of reasonable discourse here. First, there may be censorship of “progressive” topics because this is a conservative site. Second, there is censorship of gross coarseness or racial etc insults, because this place has class.
Third, this is a private site and it is kind of old fashioned in that rather than wanting every little spat and problem viewable, it presents a cleanly supervised, wholesome discussion center. And look at all the crazy stuff that stays in. It’s crazy enough; there is no need for piddling nastiness in public.
I believe they use their own servers because your favorite hosting company doesn’t support the software that Jim uses.
