They should hold their breath until it gets better for them.
Today’s “cereal” may as well be labeled as candy....Cereal just makes me hungry. ..including real oatmeal. An organic, uncured, grass-fed hotdog for me. Don’t even have to cook it...add a piece of cheese or half an avocado. Yum..and good to go for hours.
The funny (not HA HA funny) thing is that I have 3 tween/teen kids. They moan and complain when I ask them to put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher rather than leaving them in the sink.
But they love cereal!
Of course, since they can operate a laptop, cell phone, tablet, etc. I’ve also stopped doing their laundry. They can run washer, dryer, and fold/hand up their own clothes. I can’t do mine, my wife’s, and theirs — it’s just too much on top of my “day” job an hour away.
It’s taken some time, and there’s still more progress to be made, but they WILL take care of themselves.
Haven’t had cereal in a while...But I do like Raisin Bran and Shredded Wheat. Need to pick some up!
But that isn’t the Breakfast of Champions.
What is?
Two grilled cheese sandwiches and a can of Dr. Pepper (had that yesterday). (Insert Homer Simpson drooling noise)
I like cereal, but as I’ve gotten older my tolerance for carbs in the morning has gone down. Think it’s hypoglycemic? Anyway can’t really take anything with carbs before 11 or so. Proteins ok though - which means its either eggs/sausage for breakfast or I skip. Most days it’s just coffee. I know not very healthy, but I eat a moderate lunch and dinner. Have still managed to gain 20 pounds over the past 5 years....i think that’s the whiskey :)

Too bad they stopped making the little boxes with perforations so that you could simply split open the box and pour your milk into it . . . not needing a bowl. Clean the spoon with your tongue, wipe it on your shirt - and pop it back in the drawer. No mess, no fuss - except that it required you to get up and cross the room to the garbage can and throw the box away.
Might be too much effort for a Millennial.
I often enjoy a bowl of Raisin Bran or Grape Nuts before bed.
I grew up on Frosted Rice Krinkles, at least 2-3 boxes a week, and they stopped making them. I have been depressed every since.
I hate cereal! I’ll eat oatmeal or cream of wheat, but I hate cereal. I’m in my 50s.
My kids like it more than me.
I stopped drinking milk when I was in my early 20s. I mix cereal and yogurt together. Yummy.
I do put a little milk on oatmeal, but just a little.
That is my only milk.
Most cereals today are nothing but sugar.
I’m not going to fuss at them for doing the right thing, even if it is for the wrong reasons.
Cereal is one of the unhealthiest foods you can eat. The old job about the box having more nutritional value than the cereal inside wasn’t far from the truth. Without the milk what have you got? Empty carbs. Without the fortified vitamins and minerals the only thing the cereal provides is calories.
My kids seem to prefer a breakfast smoothie. Has the milk, plus fruit and even veggies (how they drink a green smoothie is beyond me, but they seem to like it). I have no doubt that it’s better for them than a bowl of cereal.
Better to spend 10 bucks on a coffee and pastry every morning at “race together” Starbucks and complain about lack of a living wage.
Because cereal is overpriced, underflavored, not filling, and nutritionally no better than the box it came in?
My stepdaughters and sons admit to rarely watching the news. But they know everything about the world of music, movie, and tv entertainment.
Why no discussion of the Paleo food movement and the resulting millenniums aversion to refined carbohydrates?
Most of the cereal in the stores is basically candy.
