We had the chance, and we blew it.

It's appearing obvious that Trump will win South Carolina, and logic would tend to indicate that that makes him the odds-on favorite to win the Republican nomination (baring any GOPe dirty tricks at the convention).

While I will gladly vote for Trump over Clinton or Sanders, I'm still disheartened.

Ever since the last day of Reagan's administration, America has been in need of conservative leadership.

GHW Bush's squishiness gave us Clinton.

GW Bush barely won election. I'm glad he was in office after 9/11 instead of Gore, but he loaded us up with tons of debt and a lot of government growth. He also gave us Obama.

McCain was a squish and got his ass handed to him in Obama's first term.

Romney was a squish and got his ass handed to him in Obama's second term. Even Obama was surprised he won that one after the destruction he wrought in his first term.

Now, our chance has come.

On the democrat side, we have a nasty, entitled, corrupt, untrustworthy, unlikable, old hag and a grungy, mooching, old, socialist running for office.

On the republican side, we have a solidly conservative, well spoken, highly informed candidate that isn't afraid to stand up to the GOPe and fight for conservative causes. It's what we ALL have been waiting for.

We've ALL thought that we could win the presidency and right the wrongs of the past few decades of creeping socialism if we would just put a true conservative up as our nominee in the general.

Well, this is our chance. But, we're about to piss it away.

I think I understand the appeal of Trump. People are pissed and Trump has tapped into that. But this is a time for thinking, not feeling. Trump is a demagogue. People want to be on "Team Trump" because he's loud, proud, and unapologetic. But, Trump is also practicing a scorched Earth campaign of character assassination against Cruz in order to win the nomination for himself, and his whipped up supporters are dog-piling on anyone who dares to point out the emperor's lack of clothes.

Two years from now, when we discover that all of the red flags and warnings being blared by Trump's past positions and statements really are an accurate representation of Trump, and we find that "campaign" Trump was just that, we will kick ourselves when we realize that we had our chance, perhaps our last, to nominate the true conservative we had all been waiting for, and we screwed it up.

Turning a blind eye to Trump's liberal leanings just because he says the things we want to hear, and helps us express our dissatisfaction with the status-quo, doesn't make his leanings any less liberal.

We've said that electing a conservative could set us back on the right track.

We have, right now, a chance that we won't have again for a very, very long time. A chance to prove we were right.

But we're about to blow it.

Cruz’s apology was crappy. He didn’t ever acknowledge their tactics...and take responsibility.

That guy has some bad guys running his campaign. DC insiders...with more arrogance than brains.

I didn’t say anything about liking or disliking Trump.

I noted the similarities of zealotry in a people who have in their angst, blindly and fervently support a single person as savior and ruler who will ‘fix’ everything and bring hope and change.

You cannot have a Republic with such people. Not possible.

It doesn’t matter now that we have open borders and and an Islamic Caliphate whose agents are among us. Liberty is already lost and the reactions of the people in this election make that crystal clear to anyone with an honest understanding of history and our Founding.

Vote for your king and dictator, and see where it gets you.

The last thing someone with sketchy citizenship should be doing is speaking Spanish.

Yeah. 'Cause speaking Spanish is a sure-fire indicator of Canadian citizenship!

I consider Cruz a NBC

Fine. That's not my point. With the cloud hanging over him about his citizenship Cruz should not be speaking Spanish. It also reminds people of his alleged waffling on the Gang of Eight bill. Cruz needs to go full 100% American, not play cute little multicultural pandering games ("Look, I'm not a dirty bigot like those bad old racist Republicans - I speak Spanish!") like George W. Bush used to.

Multilingualism is national suicide, but that's another subject.

Sound (reads?) like he has that election thingie down fairly well.

Just needs a little more thought regards how well liberalism/socialism works so well everywhere it has been implemented.

Rubio was calling him a liar because he didn’t speak Spanish. He wasn’t giving a speech, he was just making Rubio look like a fool.

Optics not logic. Knowing many languages is a sign of globalist sympathies.

Cruz shouldn't speak Spanish in public during the campaign for the same reason Rubio shouldn't be singing show tunes.

Optics.

Rubbish!

Cruz and his campaign staff did nothing unethical, illegal or even immoral in Iowa and all of the contrived indignation to the contrary does not make it so

Well said, I agree with you 100%.

He was raised by a Cuban father. Of course he knows some Spanish. I speak French, learned in an American high school. I consider it a good thing. He also has to appeal to a Hispanic base as much as possible. Many are legal you know.

“Trump has over 1000 H1’s on his payroll.”

I believe that’s incorrect. He does have a number of H-2B visa people (cooks, waitresses, housekeepers) working at his resorts because he can’t find LEGAL residents willing to fill those jobs, many of which are seasonal. Kinda shoots down the false claims that he hires illegals.

Trump: I Hired Foreign Workers At Mar-A-Lago Because ‘It’s Very, Very Hard’ To Get Seasonal Workers

Rubio was calling him a liar because he didn't speak Spanish. He wasn't giving a speech, he was just making Rubio look like a fool.

There's a non-zero probability that Rubio trolled him into speaking Spanish because he understands the optics here better than Cruz does.

There are reasons why a squish like Rubio won't be hurt by his globalism while a supposed hardline conservative like Cruz will be.

This is advanced optics. Not for rubes.

I've got an uncle who is a doctor. Can I cut you open and play with your innards? I get it; you hate Ted Cruz. Donald Trump is your personal Messiah and whoa to anyone who would blaspheme his name. You Trump cultists exhibit every foul error you smear on Cruz supporters. Ted Cruz is an honorable but flawed, human man. He's not God. He's not a messiah nor a savior. He is the best bet to recover from Obama. ...and in conclusion, bite me.

This election is about GOP establishment doing the popes bidding in tearing up our borders. Thus far NONE elected seem to do anything to stop the hordes of Obama's illegals invading this nation but yak yak yak. I am done listening to the lip service of bought up and owned politicians... Do you even know who Cruz's donors are.... They are OPEN BORDERS and he owes them big time, regardless of what he claims otherwise!!!!!!!!

I do not believe a 'rapture doctrine' person is fit to hold the office of president... The ones I know salivate over the prospect of seeing me roast like a slice of bacon in hell for eternity. They have their bags packs ready for a trip out of here so they escape that big bad tribulation. I want somebody who is here for the duration.

It is beyond ridiculous for you to accuse me of believing Trump is my personal Messiah.... I am yet to be convinced he will win. But I sure am loving him expose the complete and total corruption of the political class, coming in the name of Jesus.

That's because you are blind to reality.

More than anyone else,Trump can and would easily beat Hillary, who may or may not be the nominee.

Bernie should be easy but he's an unknown quantity, since I really can't get a handle on why he is so popular, especially to airheads young ones. Time was, even grammar school kids knew that stinking MARXIST were awful.

So Trump hires illegals to do the grunt work. Had they not been available, he would have paid a little more and had people lining up. Shame on him.

The more a candidate panders to hispanics the less I trust them on immigration.

First, does Cruz have really bad internal polling... What is with all the WOE IS ME stuff coming out of Cruz supporters tonight? You guys are acting like emotional teenagers...

Second Trump isn’t a king, or a dictator just like Cruz isn’t a theocrat... Enough of the hyperbole.

Besides, isn’t the knock on Trump that he’ll WORK with the Republicans in the house/Senate and the dems ;)
