The motion filled by the DOJ neglects to tell the Court the employee reset password at the request of the FBI (assuming San Berbadino Couty is being truthful).

You have to call in to set the passcode if you wish to retrieve the data. It never ceases to amaze me how many people put their expert opinion on these pages without ever reading the threads.

If you set an unset passcode, the cloud is automatically cleared.

the source is now changing the story and saying the county IT guy changed it after the FBI took custody. No, the "source" at Apple didn't change the story. The FBI is changing its story.

San Bernadino County is calling out the FBI and DOJ.

So grand master of all that is Apple, what pray tell is the truth? Well, my FRiend, looking at everything that has come out and the statements of the people since this development was revealed, I think the FBI asked the IT guys at San Bernardino County to change the AppleID so they could attempt to reset the passcode on the iPhone using a known AppleID and password, not knowing that would wipe any current iCloud backups because they had not yet involved Apple in the process.
Now, they are playing "Blame the Other Guy!" and "Cover Up Our Big Boo-Boo!" by trying to get Apple to pull our cookies out of the fire, unaware that Apple could tell that someone had changed the AppleID password after they had possession of the iPhone and would call them out on it.

San Bernadino County is calling out the FBI and DOJ. They are all pointing fingers . . . Apple is just reporting objective findings. Apple has never had custody of the iPhone in question since it left its hands at sale.

Apple is & has been out of the loop in my opinion. Now more than ever. If the FBI thought they were in such dire need of Apple's help, they would have not touched the phone (other than trying one or 2 passcodes), much less request the IT guy to change a password.
This has never been about one particular phone. It is about the endgame.

Federal investigators only found out about the reset after it had occurred and that the county employee acted on his own, not on the orders of federal authorities, the source said. And what is the name of this county employee? Machmood? Ahmed? Muhammed? Abdul? Houssam?
Will we ever know?

How does Apple know the passcode changed? If it doesn't match the default then it has obviously been changed.
