I had to look up its meaning: it's a monadnock
monadnock: an isolated hill or ridge or erosion-resistant rock rising above a peneplain.
peneplain: In geomorphology and geology a peneplain is a low-relief non-constructional plain. This is the definition in the broadest of terms, albeit with frequency the usage of peneplain is meant to imply the representation of a near-final (or penultimate) stage of fluvial erosion during times of extended tectonic stability.
Lol. Whaaaat?
Thank you for sharing the pics. Reminds of the old/renovated Majestic Theater in Dallas back in the 50s/60s What a treat to enjoy the downtown area, movie and dinner as a special date night. Good Steak Houses and Italian restaurants and watching a good movie in an elegant setting. The Art Deco era will always be a favorite.
Beautiful. :-)) Thanks!
Baraboo means monadnock? I have heard many theories while growing up there, the most popular being a bastardization of a French word, but who knows?
