Sunday on ABC's "This Week," while discussing the replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Republican presidential candidate Sen. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 97% said of his opponent Donald Trump that the time for the circus and reality show was over when it come to choosing a commander-in-chief that will uphold the Constitution.
Partial transcript as follows:
CRUZ: But Justice Scalia's passing also has a profound impact on this primary. It underscores the stakes for the people of South Carolina. They're looking at the individuals on that stage. They're asking, who can I trust? Who do I know will defend the Constitution and will defend the Bill of Rights? Because the pattern we've seen, George -- and you're a veteran of these battles for many years. Democrats understand the stakes and they fight tooth and nail for left-wing judicial activists. Far too many Republicans don't care about the court, don't invest political capital in it. And it's why so many Republican nominees have turned out to be disasters. And let me say something...
STEPHANOPOULOS: One of them that...
CRUZ: -- in particular to the veterans of the state of South Carolina. To the veterans in South Carolina, your Second Amendment rights are hanging in the balance. Justice Scalia, one of his biggest opinions was the "Heller" decision. It was 5-4, upholding the individual right to keep and bear arms. If an additional liberal justice goes to the court, we're one justice away from the Second Amendment being written out. And if Donald Trump becomes president, the Second Amendment will be written out of the Constitution because it is abundantly clear that Donald Trump is not a conservative. He will not invest the capital to confirm a conservative. And so the result would be the same --

How many people have you employed? Do you sign payroll checks on the front or the back?
Can Trump promise us Melania won’t pose nude as First Lady? Having seen the pics, I know her hoo haws are YUUUGE and it’s really CLASSY how she pretends to touch herself. Just not sure I need to see that in a First Lady.
You'll be heart broken when this one leaves the White House next January.
The reason I bring that up is in these last two unhinged days Cruz has lied about Trump's stance on the 2nd amendment and Rubio's very strong pro-life views. That could be too much for them to forgive and forget.
When Cruz gets caught in an ill-advised statement or action, he doesn't back off. He just gets nastier. It isn't pleasant to observe.
It’s globalist lying time, for a change.
Lol!!!
Do some research before posting. TPA was the authorization, not the deal. Cruz gave Obama and his donor masters a big wet kiss by voting for TPA cloture. Since then, knowing it will pass, his is fooling the flock by chatting against the deal. You know, like loading up a bill with pork, knowing it will pass, then voting against it. Ole Cruz, what a guy.
You are so far off the rails I don't think I can enlighten you. But here goes: Trump got the endorsement of Jerry Falwell junior, not because of Trump's faith, but because of his proven record in business (Jerry Falwell junior's words) - I suggest you actually read up on it instead simply following Cruz's slime machine.
The hypocrisy, the fleece-the-flock monetary actions and the entire un-Christian behavior of Cruz's campaign is beyond the pale.
But we do have Cruz’s record - having gotten the political keys to the kingdom - and his slimy campaign modus operandi.
If the lying stops then problem solved.
Yep, I’ve seen his interviews from later than that too where he says he’s for abortion, against same-sex marriage but might change his mind, for the bailout, for Obama’s stimulus, praises Hillary Clinton and even in this campaign he’s for Obama opening relations with Cuba, for expanded NSA surveillance on phone calls, not for reforming social security/medicare, for “universal” health care backed by the government, for maintaining progressive income tax where the rich pay more, etc.
Platitudes like he’s for “loving America” or for “helping families” are meaningless statements. I could get those from any Democrat too.
All the nastiness of Trump without the charm.
