He might hate the United States, but he sure digs those designed-in-California computers.
You probably wouldnât take Kim Jong-un as a Mac user. Usually, in photos of him checking out military computers, we see the North Korean dictator in front of a P.C.

However, a handful of photos of the supreme leader at his own desk show him with Macs, leading to the assumption that while the military may use PCs, his personal preference is Mac.
For example, Reuters correspondent James Pearson, who covers North Korea and South Korea, tweeted out this image earlier today:
There are other images, including a 2013 image of Kim Jong-un at his desk with an iMac

That same year, South Korean newspaper Chosun published this photo from North Korean Central News Agency, which shows an Apple iMac.

It might be easy to write these off as inconsequential, but considering how North Koreaâs own homegrown OS is, as our colleagues at Gizmodo say, a âdelightful Mac OS X knockoff.â

The strongest Mac connection, however, is that Kim Jong-unâs father, Kim Jong-il was a Mac user. Google, sorry Alphabet Inc., president Eric Schmidt visited North Korea a few years back with his daughter Sophie.
After visiting Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the giant state mausoleum, Sophie Schmidt recalled (via Gizmodo):
Also lying in state: the late Leadersâ cars, train compartments and even a yacht, all preserved in their former glory. Even Kim Jong Ilâs platform shoes were on display. I was delighted to learn that he and I shared a taste in laptops: 15" Macbook Pro.
Kim Jong-il apparently died in his mobile office on train, and the Macbook Pro can apparently be seen in this photo of the preserved train coach.
So, like father, like son?

For whom I was speaking, the post was extremely typical. I nailed it and them.
The Bern hides his “North Korea Fan Club” pad when he’s on TV.
Is that part of your official duties as Drama Queen of the Land of Apple Butthurt?
Are you ok?
Take a deep breath now
It is just a computer, not a lifestyle or cult
Jeez
And I see someone who, by devolving into insult and ad hominem attack, has already lost any high ground he might have believed he may have had, and thereby any argument he thinks he is having. You lose.
Whoop de doo.
I'm fine.
I don't feel the need to insult an entire class of Freepers who choose to use a different computer or phone than I do like those who posted the insult posts do. I had merely predicted to Incpen before he posted this article who would post what kind of comment on here. . . And, as usual, they did not disappoint me. I was commenting that I was entirely correct.
Why would you think it's ME who has the problem when it is they who choose to insult the group of people they cannot possibly know?
Probably a picture of Anthony Weiner.

ButtHurt - from the “urban dictionary”

Swordmaker , you can’t win with logic... arguing with him about the “rules” of having a civil conversation just makes you look weak to him ... let him have it with both barrels while I make popcorn.. sure we just all looked at photo’s of a psycho dictator with his beloved MAC in the land where the populace sifts through dirt for bugs to eat... and it reminds that insult hurling non-MAC using heathen poster of Apple users he has seen here.. why not just acknowledge that MAC users ARE snobs and brush him off? It’s just a piece of hardware , nothing to get all bent out of shape over.

I know dozens of Apple users ,, not one of them uses their devices to the fullest extent , in fact the lowliest generic equivalent would be more than adequate for them... it’s all just electronic baubles to them ... like a woman driving an automatic equipped Porsche that has never learned the first thing about vehicle dynamics ... or someone that buys one of those “Invicta” clown watches on HSN because they’ve been sold on it being a “good” watch that buys them respect from people...
I know you’re probably that one in a thousand power user that actually uses most of the features and couldn’t possibly use an Intel based cad workstation or live with a Samsung S3 or a watch that does the job of telling time brilliantly but without a sky high price tag and the ability to post your heartrate just like an $18 fitness bracelet... you are the exception... In my world Apple buyers only care about one thing ,, having that apple logo visible for others to see.. If it makes you feel any better I feel the same towards people that watch and try to be like the Kardashians, they’re just not that fabulous.
This does explain all!!!
Kim Jong-un as a Mac user.
Er... wait a minute. What would Stalin use if he were around today?
Windows 10?
Nice try with the left-handed approach, Neidermeyer. Still doesn't wash from YOU either. . . just more of the same-old, same-old. An insult is still an insult, whether it's from YOU or him.
The real snobs are the anti-Apple Hate Brigade who come into every Apple thread to show their superiority to Apple users by insulting them. . . just as you just attempted to do. Why not just admit that YOU are the snob and call it a day?
You live in a very strange world. . . populated by very strange people as well, one in which you cannot post without insulting people by attributing to them attitudes you do not know they have at all. Must be pathetically sad to be you living in the world surrounded by such shallow people. It also must be pathetic to just be you, when you can only post when you must insult people when you do. Sad.
I think you need to talk to somebody about this
It is just a computer
Laugh at it and move on
Linux
I am laughing. At the people who come on to these threads to insult every single user of Apple products because for some reason that seems to threaten them. Why? Why do you find my comment to incpen disturbing? I had made a specific prediction that these comments in the exact format would show up. When they did, I posted that they had. Then you come in implying that I have the problem. Same laughter about that, too. I had predicted to incpen exactly what was going to happen. It did. So how is that disturbing for you? What bothers YOU about that that seems to make you think I have a problem? is it that I knew exactly how these posters would be going to react to this article? Exactly how does that make it MY problem?
I am merely the keeper of the Apple/Mac/iOS ping list on FreeRepublic which is now composed of over 725 of your fellow Freepers. Do you find it strange that I might find it disturbing that other Freepers feel it necessary to come on to a thread about Apple and insult ALL 725 plus of THEM because they choose to use a computer the insulters don't use???? These particular people who sling the insults do it in every single thread about Apple computers and phones. It is as predictable as the sun rising and setting. Frankly, the continuing insults aimed at Mac and Apple users long ago lost any humor for Apple and Mac users.
Why do you think it is ME who needs to "talk to someone about this" when it seems to be THEM who have the uncontrollable compulsion to invade a thread merely to insult people they obviously do not know? They could just as easily IGNORE the thread and move on. But they don't. They are compelled to comment, and what's more, make nasty comments about the users of Apple products. Why is that compulsion there, Arl295? What made YOU jump to the conclusion that it was ME who had a problem instead of THEM? That they have to comment in an insulting manner toward all Mac users is truly what is much more pathological. . . yet you choose to imply that I am the one who has a pathological problem? That is really weird.
Unfortunately for some it's not a computer but a way of life. It's easy to spot those who worship technology. Individuals who don't find hope except by embracing a Ray Kurzweil futurist mindset. To speak ill of their technology or their motivations is to commit blasphemy. But in reality it's low-rent materialistic narcissism.
I feel sorry for them. They badly need some friends or a life of some sort. Nothing on this thread was “insulting” by any standards, I thought the comment was funny.
“Apple products bring out the dictator in folks.”
That is funny, seriously, how tightly wound can one be to find that offensive?
