NH is too left wing to represent the GOP.
Group them with Iowa and 3 other states on opening day. Put in a couple from deep south and one from the far west.
I am sick of the establishment having the NH place of honor.
having independents voting in a republican primary is where things are wrong.
if they were truly interested in the well being of their independence, run your own primary candidates.
gop is the stooopid party.
GO TED.
The only problem I have with that, is candidates with little funds can’t compete. Are we really ready to have only billionaires and establishment anointeds run for President?
How about we do what the founders intended and let them do as they darn well please.
If we had all on one day for Primary, why not just make it General Election Day and skip all the advertising money?
It still helps to have something like three groups of Primaries 19 states in each. That way there would be some good ‘tug-o-war’ time between Primaries for the better candidate to rise to the top before convention. Or a taper up set beginning with 6, then 12, and 32 to leave just a bit of carnival in it.
Anyone can vote in either Party’s Primary, but pass a rule that you are stuck in that Primary for the next election. General still good with free-for-all.
Conventions? From a day when there was no rapid communications. Keep em for Tradition.
The Democrats hate the first two states too. Why don’t both parties get together and fix this? They both just complain every 4 years. I think Utah and Delaware would be a better solution for both parties to have their primaries. Each party is going to demand on of their states have 1 in the first two states.
Increase the first primary to have 5 to 10 states that are scattered around to represent the different regions of the country.
Both Constitutionalist and the Communist can have their one or two states represented.
I know a little bit about Iowa, Better Half is from there. Because of the Scandinavian heritage, Iowa is nearly ‘bout as socialist as Minnysoter.
There is no logical reason Iowa or Newfoundland are number 1 and Number 2 in Primaries, other than the ad money carnival.
Intelligent voters listen to more than one channel. You are stuck on the Pied Piper channel.
States that continually go blue shouldn’t have first rights of refusal for GOP hopefuls. If you aren’t going to go for our guy, why should you get to kill someone’s career before anyone else has a chance to get to know him?
NY values.
All primaries and caucus need to be on one day or at least with a 7-10 day period. Then have the top 2 or 3 do the same thing 30 days later.
Jon Huntsman getting 19% didn’t convince you?
But if these candidates are so damn good, why can’t they raise money too? If there were just one day, the process would start much earlier - the fund raising and running I mean.
Better would be to have a rule that, after Super Tuesday, anybody who has not gotten more than 10% of the aggregate vote needs to drop out, and after the end of March, all but the top 2 drop out.
I like that idea.
It might cost a little more by having an extra election, but it would give us the best possible candidate.
This whole presidential primary thing is broken.
It dates to the old days when Americans took state sovereignty seriously.
And indeed the RINO did win NH last night.
***************************************
Yes, he did. However, it did finally backfire on them, because the right RINO didn’t win. So, now maybe they will give a thought to dropping NH.
Neither Iowa nor NH should have much weight in determining the GOP nominee. Both have voted only once for the GOP Presidential candidate since the 1980s (IA in 2004, NH in 2000).
Colors are backward. Red is leftist. Blue is Conservative.
Nah, the GOPe is now too busy trying to tie up loose ends on their cashflow and future lobbying prospects.
