"Tennessee Waltz" is a country music song with lyrics by Redd Stewart and music by Pee Wee King written in 1946 and first released in January 1948. The song became a multimillion seller via a 1950 recording â as "The Tennessee Waltz" â by Patti Page. As of 1974, it was the biggest selling song ever in Japan. Mandolin and singing covered by me, o7jimmy.
Like the Tennessee Waltz, the San Antonio Rose” is a country song about a song, but the namesake song is not itself sung in the song!
IIRC, she had recorded the A side of a record but couldn’t come up with a song for the B side. Someone suggested Tennessee Waltz as a throwaway recording just to get the A side out there. TW went on to be wildly popular, the A side, not nearly so much.
oopsie: Should be “San Antonio Stroll”
A similar favorite of mine is, “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma.”
Patsy Cline’s cover of “Tennessee Waltz” is achingly beautiful and the purest country as you will ever hear. As pure as a 1960’s tavern in southern Colorado where I first heard it:

Revski, you have talent. Thanks for sharing and also the little mini devotion at the end of your performance.
Thanks so much.
Beautiful song very well sung by one of America’s greatest singer. Thanks
Thanks for your comment, I had never known that. :)
Beautiful woman and sang like a angel. Thanks for share and yea not many can sing like her.
The original A side was ... get ready ...
“Boogie Woogie Santa Claus”
Thanks and I don’t believe I heard that song or don’t remember hearing it.
I just listened to it for the first time ever.
It is strongly reminiscent of some of the
music you hear in the Fallout 3 and Fallout 4
video games, for example, Butcher Pete.

He didn’t get the memo
Hey my friend, nice Tennessee walker horse but I am not sure what this has to do with the song Tennessee Waltz. :)
Beautiful song, but I prefer the original, without the added syrup.

It reminds me of this one by Peggy Lee:

I know a guy (early 20s) who is a Fallout addict. He has set a goal for himself of trying to find all the original records of the Fallout songs. Maybe that’s a bit extreme, but a lot of people are being exposed to some older music through those games, and they are finding that they like it.
In my feeble brain, I imagined the Tennessee Waltz and the beautiful rhythmic gait of the horse. Both beautiful, both classic, both memorable.
Then, I *snarked* the horse didn't *get the memo* ....in that he was prancing ...not waltzing.
I didn't mean to give you any consternation over your great song. I remember playing that *45* over-and-over until it plum wore out.
Carry on!
