He Said He Was An Undecided Iowan Until He He Received This Controversial Mailer From Ted Cruz.

As Iowans prepare to head to the caucuses on Monday for the nation's first votes in the presidential primaries, the campaigns are pulling out all the stops. The mailer sent out by one Republican campaign, however, might end up backfiring.

Tom Hinkeldey, a resident of Alta, Iowa, tweeted a photo (which was later deleted because it included his personal address) on Friday evening of a mailer Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign sent addressed to his wife, Steffany. The mailer was a large card printed to look like a manila envelope on one side and was labeled in all capital letters, "ELECTION ALERT," "VOTER VIOLATION," "PUBLIC RECORD," and "FURTHER ACTION NEEDED."

On the other side, the mailer said in red letters at the top, "VOTING VIOLATION."

Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler confirmed to IJ Review that the mailer was theirs in a phone call Friday evening, saying that the targeting had been "very narrow, but the caucuses are important and we want people who haven’t voted before to vote."

The convinced cruznadians are True Believers. They’ll vote for their precious or they’ll stay home.

Fortunately for the country in general and conservatives in particular, the convinced cruznadians are a relatively small number of people.

‘these trivialities.’

It isn’t trivial to mail a person’s voting history to their neighbors. It is manipulative, obnoxious and boneheaded stupid. If you don’t think this will backfire, you have a big surprise in your future.

Quid pro quo - if Trump wins the nomination, neither I, nor my wife, nor both of my parents, nor my sister and husband, nor my best friend, nor several other confirmed conservatives will be voting for him. We refuse to support the uniparty through Trump.

For every vote you cliam to be gaining, I bet I know 2 or 3 you’ll be losing by supporting that blowhard.

Good luck! We’ll be going politically Galt while you ignoramuses ruin our country.

‘Do you really think Cruz supporters will switch to your guy after all the lies DT has campaigned against Cruz on?’

The mailings didn’t go to Cruz supporters. They went to people who typically don’t caucus. Those who respond to the mailing will likely caucus for ABC: Anybody But Cruz.

I’m not so sure about that anymore. HMCS Cruz is taking on water and I see some Cruzers threatening to jump ship to Marco Amnestio. I can’t fathom a “principled conservative” supporting Rubio after Gang of 8. But then again Cruz himself campaigned for Barack Obama’s trade agenda and they don’t have a problem with that. Strange, strange election.

So Toronto Ted’s campaign is sending out fliers that violate everyone’s privacy?

Keep in mind that this is the same guy who flip-flopped and now supports the TSA, and whose campaign chairman profited from those TSA body scanners.

I’m gonna call you out on this. I emphatically disagree with CW on a myriad of things. I also think her taste in political candidates is wretched. However, she is a conservative as well as a long time FReeper in good standing. Thus she deserves the courtesies and deference accorded a FReeper. Such as those are (LOL!).

It is also poor FR etiquette to mention a FReeper in a post without providing them a courtesy ping.

Anybody but Trump. I’m fine with that, I’m a “anybody but Jeb, Rubio” sort of person.

They won’t go for rubio either. Most are former Carson,Huckabee, or Santorum supporters. They’ll go there.

.... This is going to backfire BADLY for Cruz. What are they thinking?
They are THINKING. And why do you care?
Absolutely NOTHING matters to trumpees about The One. He has an oak tree sticking out of his eye and you are more concerned about a speck of dust in Cruz or Rubio or Jeb or in other candidate’s eye.
He has no class, morals or principles. He is a little to the right of Bambi - give credit to Bambi - his principles are life long, not still changing every day.

I think there are True Believers and then there are Disruptors.

A few of our FReepers have something of a hobby of looking closely at FReeper posting histories. They find some very interesting things. Like FReepers who haven’t posted in 9 years all of a sudden posting. Or FReepers who post like mad for days on end... then take Federal holidays off.

The question we should ask in politics is: who benefits? Ted Cruz wasn’t on the political scene 9 years ago. And neither Trump nor Cruz benefit from internecine battles.

So a bunch of emphatic Cruz supporters “suddenly” switch to Marco Amnestio? Color me 15 shades of skeptical.

I think Trump was going to win Iowa before Team Cruz pulled this dumb stunt. My only concern is that now the little amnesty weasel, No-show Marco will finish second.

Quite a few of Cruz’s people supposedly quit yesterday.
I wonder if this is why?

******************

People come and go in campaigns. If it was top echelon people that is one thing
but if it is people on the bottom rung and maybe unpaid then I don’t see it is
much of an event.

I personally suspect this is some of his door knocking people, etc. not top
level mgrs. jmo.

SHAME ON YOU,  SENATOR CRUZ

Tom Hinkeldy, a resident of Alta, Iowa, tweeted a photo (which was later deleted because it included his personal address) on Friday evening of a mailer Sen. Ted Cruz' campaign sent addressed to his wife, Steffany. The mailer was a large card printed to look like a manila envelope on one side and was labeled in all capital letters, ELECTION ALERT, VOTER VIOLATION, PUBLIC RECORD, and FURTHER ACTION NEEDED.

Ted-cruz-shaming-campaign-3

The mailer said in red letters at the top,

“You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors’ are public record.  Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well.  CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. Follow-up notices may be issued following Monday's caucuses.

Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler confirmed to IJ Review that the mailer was theirs in a phone call Friday evening, saying that the targeting had been “very narrow, but the caucuses are important and we want people who haven’t voted before to vote.”

MoveOn did similar voter-shaming mailers in 2012 for Obama.

Do you have a photo of the envelope? I hear that too was offensive, giving the impression the occupant had committed voter fraud and visible to mailmen, mail handlers, and perhaps even co-workers or neighbors depending on how people received mail in group settings. In my small rural town everybody knows everybody. Iowa is no different than ohio. I would be royally hacked off.
