That’s the thing...one could have a lot of leeway with the eats, but would have to really up the activity level.

Someone at work would always ask me “what was my secret”. It seemed they were all eating those gaggy dry puffed rice cakes (early 90’s) and couldn’t lose weight.
When you try to explain that to lose weight it requires physical effort to burn more calories than you are consuming they just shrug their shoulders and walk away. Toward the end of my weight loss (I started at 275 and got down to 175) I was burning about 5,000 calories a day while eating about 1,500-2,000 and losing close to 2-3 pounds a week.
A quick rule of thumb is 5,000 calorie deficit equals about 1 pound weight loss.
My cell phone has a pedometer that I used for a recent visit to Magic Kingdom. For the day it counted about 14,000 steps, which it said was equal to just over 5 miles, which it said was 400 calories burned. And I thought, “400 calories?! That’s not even enough to indulge in dessert!” ;)
