The "Caucus Discussion" Thread(s) serve(s) as the pressure relief valve of much of FR. We are bigger than this, but the diminution of the Forum is because of the endangerment of the very enlightened notion of Divine Liberty.

GOOD to see you know where to find the CAUCUS DISCUSSION THREAD, txnativegop!!!
Thanks very much you all for participating in the CAUCUS D-1 IS AVAILING TO ALL OF US.
Unfortunately, all of you pinged FReepers, (save for D-1 and Windflier) did NOT follow D-1's simple rules.
All of you posted on that thread when in fact, that thread is specifically limited to voting and further limited to only two words: Vote name .
jaydee770's message should have been sent in FR mail and there was no need for others to reply.
I remain amazed by the number of FReepers who still can't follow D-1's simple voting rules. Every day, there's at least one, who just can't resist adding a comment ... LOL.

Obviously the posting rules are not all that simple since there were people who couldn't figure out when it is supposed to start. People were saying it hasn't started yet but then apparently it had. Is it 12:00 for everyone or 12:00 EST (9:00 PST)?

People were arguing about whether the votes would be counted. I think your “simple instructions” need to be simplified. There are a lot of simple minded people here. The caucus results are clear evidence of that fact.

My rules are there because people love to push the limits.
If I don’t put the rules there they would say, “But you never told us we can’t do that.”
I have to have some rigid rules or the thread would be unmanageable.
Not only that, I need to be able to count between 300 and 400 votes in a timely fashion.
If I let folks go wild, it would take me hours to do.
As it is, I can now tabulate in about ten minutes.
My tabulation creates four graphs, and those are almost automatic.
Then I copy them and turn them into photo.png files.
I post them to my thread and I’m good to go.
Took me about 20 minutes tonight.
That’s not too bad.
If I didn’t have the rules, it would take me four times as long, or longer.

It’s good to see the Cruz supporters starting to come back, as indicated by the Cruz uptrend the last two days. Given some murmerings in that Consistent Conservative site of disgruntled Cruz supporters, I thought many of them would begin boycotting the FR Caucus, giving Trump some unrealistically outsized numbers here.

I am glad the Cruz numbers didn’t bottom out. I wanted realistic numbers.
We’re just five days away from the caucus now.
It will be interesting.

I believe, based on the number of votes cast before I get up at 4:00 to 5:00 a.m. EST, that DoughtyOne’s caucus has a large number of West Coast votes. It will be interesting to see whether this produces results similar to votes in Iowa and New Hampshire, or very different.
