WASHINGTON (AP) -- All adults, including pregnant women and new mothers, should be screened for depression as a routine part of health care, a government advisory group recommended Tuesday.
Depression is a common public health problem, and screening simply involves health workers asking about certain symptoms even if patients don't mention them.

After losing my 18 year career level job to a reorganization, my first job interview included some consultant who proceeded to try to psychoanalyze me.

He said a sudden job loss is a negative 100 point event and then said “How did you feel and what did you do when you lost your job?”
I told him that I wasn’t all the thrilled, I went home and re-roofed my house, as planned then I went camping, and I stayed a couple extra days just because I could.
I also decided I wanted nothing to do with this idiot or that company.
If you’re a gun owner, it is important to answer those questions carefully. I never feel stress, concern, worry, anger, fear, or any other negative emotion, nor do I have trouble sleeping, or any other mental problems. Ever. No, you don’t have to admit to minor problems because “everyone has something wrong”. I have no emotional problems and never will. If the thugs want to take my favorite form of stress relief, I will not give them an excuse to do so.
If I go to a doctor for a sinus infection, I don’t want to discuss my guns - “no, I don’t have any”. I also don’t want to discuss my mood - “perfect, everything is great”. If I go for a sinus infection, I want to discuss my sinuses and antibiotics if appropriate. Nothing more.
Because all medical records under Obamacare now have to go to a big database run by a billion-dollar company owned by an Obama friend, and once you have a notation of depression on your records, the government can send word to take your guns from you.

So, here we go with another government task force...forcing doctors to screen ALL adults for mental health issues. Looking around the web you will find a secondary title to this article that highlights it as screening for pregnant women, but that article clearly states ALL ADULTS.
So when I heard this last night on the radio, my first thought was about Obama’s agenda to enact gun control or even confiscation. How incredibly convenient to get a task force together to ‘recommend’ mental health screenings as ...gee...we all agree that the mass shooting incidents are often mental health related.
Even this article doesn’t discern between true mental illness and daily life stressors that can cause deep sadness, like grief.
This if the first step in the government being able to classify you as mentally unstable and keep you from owning your guns.
WOW...this administration is certainly up for using every crisis to their best advantage. Now they are going to screen you for mental illness, whether you are seeking treatment or not. Brilliant!
Actually, soma was the drug that they used in Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’. Not sure what the drug was in 1984.
