I like Cruz and wish him well. I’ll vote for Trump in my primary, but will be glad to vote for Cruz a general election if that’s how it shakes out.

I want both Trump and Cruz to do well and completely submerge Rubio and Jeb so deep they can’t make it to the surface. Good luck to both of them.

Yup.

Gallup got out of the polling business because its no longer reliable and getting progressively worse.

So the polls are wrong, that’s about all I get from this piece. Oh, and there is no evidence of a Trump ground game. And Deace is usually right. What was his prediction again? Ah yes, win for Cruz.

Except that I am for Cruz over Trump, I can echo every word in your post. I will continue to tame the unfair Trump bashers (there's plenty of stuff to disagree on, but unfair or inaccurate attacks are out of bounds to me), and I hope folks like you do the same with some of the more rabid Cruz bashers.

There are a little over 600,000 active registered republicans in Iowa. So
participation is the key. Lots of potential caucus goers if and only if they
can be motivated.

Voter registeration numbers:

Agree. Whether Trump or Cruz supporters we all have much more dangerous enemies without descending into divisional differences amongst ourselves.

The enthusiasm for Trump is a factor that is being left out in the equation. 15k, 20k at his rallies. No one else comes close.

Trump will win IA.

Don’t forget the copious amounts of walking around money Trump has in his YUGE pockets.

What really sealed it for me was when Businessman deal maker Trump who also owns Goldman Sachs stock
http://www.freerepublic.com/focua/f-news/3386879/posts

TRUMP Sided with the GOPES and even advocates expanded mandated Ethanol because he thinks it will help him carry IOWA . Which also begs the question of Just how heavily invested is he in Ethanol ?

Apparently prefering a candidate that supports and wants more government mandates and subsides for especially a product like jumk in your gas tank enthanol which is a boon doggle means nothing to them.
Well it does ro me....

It ain't over by a long shot. I still hope Trump wins, but it's still an open question as to whether his supporters make it to the caucuses.

In regards to that... does one have to be a registered Republican to participate in the caucuses? And, if so, can those who show at caucus night register on the spot?

Plus, Iowan caucus voters have a contrarian streak about them. There’s a reason why Huck and Rick won.

If the race is portrayed as neck and neck, which I think it probably is (Cruz’ organization balancing Trump’s populism) then I think you get one outcome.

If the race is portrayed as Trump will win, then I think you’ll get a different, more contrarian outcome.
