There is healthy partisanship, then there is crazy, over-the-top, kick-your-ally partisanship. I think we are now firmly in the latter catagory.

No one seems to recall Reagan's 11th Commandment.

I’d apply that eleventh commandment to conservatives particularly. The moniker “Republican” is wasted on the Uniparty.

As for a leader for the country, the Founding Fathers put the greatest value on character; and it’s a shame not too many nominal conservatives do not make mention of Deuteronomy 17:15.

Free Republic is a microcosm of what is going on all over the USA. 7 years of O’Bastard have divided America. Everyone is at each other throats, it is a sign of very poor incompetent leadership.

Sometimes it is hard to do what is right when you feel angry and passionate about something. I have been trying to remind myself of the following:

Romans 12:9-13

Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love;give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly.
Do not be wise in your own estimation. Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men.If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

As bad as politics seems today you should read about the political fights of the early and mid 19th century. We are like kittens compared to them.

Yeah, this isn’t just the normal silly partisanship we get every primary.
Some posters are totally out of control.

Nothing new under the Sun. Read up on how nasty things were between the Rockefeller and Goldwater wings in the early 60s, this is mere childs’ play compared to that.

Thing is, the supporters of a candidate typically don’t see the opposing candidate as an ally. Cruz supporters tend to see Trump as some horrible liberal who must, must be stopped. I don’t agree with them, but I don’t begrudge them for feeling that way and doing what they can to help their candidate. And I say this as a Trump person.

One of them stuck his used up chewing gum under a table in the cafeteria.

CNN is having DNA tests run to determine which one did that evil, awful deed.

Yea, the silly season!

Whigs senselessly call 1848 presidential hopeful Lewis Cass a “pot-bellied, mutton-headed cucumber” in response to Democrats’ accusations that opposing candidate Zachary Taylor is, among other things, a crappy dresser.

1844, Democrats backing James K. Polk claim that Henry Clay had sex with whores and, furthermore, broke all 10 of the commandments; in lieu of evidence, they declare simply that the details are “too disgusting to appear in public print.”

1828, Jackson supporters accuse Adams of having premarital sex with his wife and being a pimp, claiming he arranged an American hooker for Czar Alexander I.

1800 Federalists claim Republican candidate Thomas Jefferson is dead.

Karl Rove-engineered robo-calls help Bush win the 2000 Republican nomination by asking primary voters if they would be “more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain if you knew that he fathered an illegitimate black child?” McCain speculates that “there is a special place in hell for people like those.” You know what happened after that.

The 1828 race, Adams supporters attack Jackson’s family, calling his dead mother “a common prostitute, brought to this country by the British soldiers,” after whose service she “married a MULATTO MAN, with whom she had several children of which number General JACKSON IS ONE!!!” Jackson’s wife, who was previously married and (accidentally) not completely divorced prior to her second marriage, they call a “convicted adulteress.” When she dies within days of Jackson’s victory, he blames Adams’ vicious campaign practices, exclaiming at her funeral, “May God Almighty forgive her murderers as I know she forgave them. I never can.”
