The sale includes the 80 acres of land, all the buildings, and the fields of solar panels.
Buyers are looking at the small desert community just across the state line for its environmental sustainability and its potential for development.
...
Tony Castrignano with Sky Mesa Realty and Capital is the man tasked with selling the town.
For $5 million, the buyer gets the country store, the RV campgrounds, the Nipton hotel and the solar panels that allow Nipton to operate at 50 percent off the grid.
...
He said potential buyers have talked about building housing, selling solar power, growing organic food and turning the community into a tourist hot spot.
...

The problem is not that the town is deserted. The problem is that the town is in California.
That is really pretty cool. But 80 acres is too little.
Any water? It comes in handy.
Actually it shows what California will be in the future.
I think the value will skyrocket once the high speed rail line that California is building in the desert opens. Buy low never sell.
Do you get to be mayor and run the police department ect.
Calif. will fall into the ocean and the town will be beach property.
This pond out in the middle of the desert is what is known as a bird migrant trap. In other words, during spring and autumn, you can find some uncommon or rare birds that make a stopover here. It really is an exceptional place, and I've made some exciting detections here, including some warblers typically only found in the East.
I even use to keep a bird list for the sweet old hippie chick lady that ran the general store. Even gave her one of my bird books to help her with IDs. She's moved though since then.
So, yes, I love Nipton. If it just wasn't in California...!
I was just thinking of this. Were they selling it because of the giant mutated ants?
I actually went there a few times in college. I used to take some ladies out for camping and both Nipton and Goffs had general stores you could stock up on if you forgot something.
With a name like that, they need to look for a Japanese buyer.
Haha - I thought the SAME thing!
Tried Fallout 4 yet?
And get taxpayer funded salary and people so ? If so you could get a great return on investment.
Storms of purple flowers, unicorn rides, a giant underground nude swimming hole!
Agree the entire state isn’t worth that much.
And you would still be subject to all rediculous California laws and taxes.
And get taxpayer funded salary and people so

And declare it a sanctuary city?
