Old saying is follow what politicians do, not what they do. In the span of one week, Trump has turned a 180 on his entire campaign strategy. He was basically Cruz's BFF for 6 months. He wouldn't attack. He was praising him everywhere he went. His entire self-admitted strategy caught on tape with donors was to shower him with love.
In the course of one week, Trump's gone to attacking Cruz bitterly on twitter, to attacking him to reporters and interviewers, to attacking him at his rallies. When will his negative ads start running?
Confident campaigns do not do such 180 degrees shifts in one week.
Campaigns worried they are losing Iowa do such things. The flip-flop thing is hurting Trump badly and Trump has been forced to double down on his attacks on Cruz.
A BS post was answered with a BS post.
This place has been in major hand to hand warfare and a little levity was a nice break.
Funny, I could have sworn Cruz had taken to attacking Trump, in an effort to wrestle Iowa from him, first.
So do I now that I’ve seen your link.
I guess you missed it when Trump started the twitter war and all the birther crap.
You gotta start rolling out a bit earlier in the morning.
LOL... just stumbled across the other thread... very good, touche’ (opposed to touché)
Trump can’t help himself.
It has nothing to do with strategy. Trump feels like he has to pick fights with people regardless of the situation. He’s a jock.
Wouldn’t the same be true of the Cruz campaign?
Well played.
To expect primary opponents to play nice with each other is rather odd.
Cruz and Trump should go after each other. The survivor will need to be battle tested because the GOPe and the Democrats will be fanatics with no scruples about fair play.
Cruz is a think tank nerd. Id be more concerned about why he’s trying to attack people.
I didn’t quite follow that.
Cruz had stopped the truce and (fairly) gone after Trump’s pro-amnesty position first.
Just what we need. An Opinion from VANITY !
I think back to the last primary season. Rick Santorum had a real chance until he started talking about the "need to compromise". That was a shame; voters realize we can't give up on our principles and get things turned around.
I get the feeling Cruz went to far with Trump. Insulting Trump's hometown and at the very least obscuring Cruz's dealing with banks that would like to control him were two things Trump has not done in this campaign.
Trump attacks. It’s what he does. Never goes on defense and it worked quite well.
Interesting. I’m trying to find the tape with donors online. Do you have a link? Thanks.
My bad editing. I needed to adjust that line and I didn’t.
...follow what they do, not what they do? John, you are a sloppy writer, too lazy to edit your own wonderful plagiarism?
For Trump, winning is everything. If you have to win ugly, then win ugly, but win.
For normal people, that kind of thing is refreshing when its turned against our common enemies, but it wears very thin when its turned on people we like. So it works with the obamists and clintonites, and even with guys like Bush. It doesn’t work so well with Cruz, and could even back-fire.
It is certainly rubbing me the wrong way.
