NY Values
Hillary couldn't get elected in her home state, but she did in NY.
As a Brooklyn-American I can say that New York values means you don’t have to say Thank you, Sorry, or Excuse me. It’s more like “Hey! I’m walking here okay?!”
Midnight Cowboy. Doesn’t help Cruz that he lost the vote of the Naked one.
I didn't know psychiatric disorder was a home state
Yeah, the Square was cleaned up only to fall back into what it was before thanks to Bloomie and the current guy.
I’m a Southerner. I go often to NYC. New Yorkers are on the whole a kind and generous people, not unlike many other people in this country. I don’t like the politicians they generally elect, but, I don’t like the politicians “conservative” republicans elect elsewhere either.
Cruz made a grave error by trying to attack “New York Values” in my opinion. To me “New York Values” are when you send your wife from Texas to work at Goldman Sachs, get them to loan you money, and then pretend that the problem is “New York”.
If Cruz wants to pretend that Goldman Sachs will not attempt to influence him, should he become President, through his wife. If we are meant to believe that the same influence that Goldman Sachs has in the Obama administration would not be painfully present in a Cruz administration as well, then I’m not that gullible.
I like Cruz’s articulated Constitutional positions. I’m not so sure he puts them all into practice. For instance, he voted for the precursor to the Iran deal - consumated here in the past few days. Why? It was an error, an egregious error that is not explainable from someone so gifted in battling for the Constitution.
New York Values indeed. I don’t want another Hillary. With this Goldman Sachs loan fiasco (I’m talking about GETTING the loan from them - not anything about disclosures) it’s clear that we are getting another behind the scenes power broker in Heidi Cruz. It’s exactly what we had in Hillary. No thank you.
New York Values seems to be sending your wife from Texas to Goldman Sachs in NYC and selling potential influence as a Senator (pre-election) in exchange for a loan.
I don’t like it. That’s not a New York value. That’s not a Texas value. That’s a Ted and Heidi Cruz value.
Well said, RFEngineer!
No one - repeat no one offended by Cruz's remarks had any intention whatsoever of voting for him. Maybe some on the fence between TC & DT, and they may go over to trump. By the same token, others on the fence will go over to Cruz as Trump makes a bigger and bigger asshole of himself with his adolescent hissy fits.
Also consider upchuck schumer and Hillary and a whole list of demholes and libtards as well as the msmwhores are on trumps side. Red flag anyone? Show of hands.....how many here started looking at Rubio in a completely different way after he teamed with schumer? Anyone on the same side of any issue, anywhere at anytime with chuck schumer loses credibility
NY State is like the former East Germany. Its a one party state. If you have the right connections, you can get appointed to anything.
bttt
Look at others that they have elected. Like indited/convicted leaders of their house and senate, ex-govrenors, Congress critters barred from Congress. The list goes on and on.
There really isn’t a big difference between NYC and the big Texas cities like Dallas and Houston.
From a Southerner who actually lives here full-time, I can say you’ve still got your blinders on. Yes, in a one-on-one situation many NYC’ers are nice people, but in terms of their political values, they suck.
If I don’t like it, you say, why don’t I move? Because I, too, prefer to relate to people one-on-one as they are, and as a result I married a really nice, beautiful, smart NY’er, and we have a wonderful child, so I’m not in a position to leave.
You tawkin to me?!
Fuhgeddaboutit (Accent on fourth syllable).
” I can say youâve still got your blinders on.”
No, I’m fully cognizant of their political proclivities. I’m aware fairly directly of the union corruption and political cronies in much of what goes on.
If you can afford to live there, have at it. As a Southerner and a conservative, you won’t be welcome at the best parties, but those are over rated anyway.
But most New Yorkers (politicians included) would recognize that if your wife’s company loans you money - and in these circles collateral is for when your loan gets exposed - after you get elected - that you owe them something. Most Americans know that if you want to avoid this sort of conflict, you do not borrow money from your wife’s company (a company that makes political “investments” all the time). You borrow like every other American borrows - honestly.
This smells bad, because it is bad. It’s not a NYC value, it good old-fashioned political cronyism - found anywhere politicians crave power and influence, which is just about everywhere.
