Vanity---Interracial couples on TV commercials

Full disclosure: I have a daughter-in-law who has a Black father and three grandchildren who have a Black grandfather.

I notice on the few commercials that show an interracial couple it is, without exception, a Black man and a White woman. It is never the reverse of that. I understand that it is much more common for a Black male to marry a White female than the reverse and I don't care who marries who, (as long a they are of two, separate genders), but why is this?

Well, since we are stereotyping, I have seen a lot of ugly Marine wives. I'm sure all the services have them, but just the Marines stand out for me.

I think it was less a stereotype than evidence that black guys prefer women with big posteriors, white men less so, making it an easier path for big butts to go black.

According to the Census, the ratio is 181 (BM-WF) to 100 (WM-BF). This ratio is much closer than it used to be. This classification of marriage definitely happens more than people think and is cropping up more on television. Funny thing is that it’s been seen in prime time dramas more than commercials. But there have been commercials with WM-BF (Swiffer, Sealy Mattress, Philly Cream Cheese). I suspect we’ll be seeing more and more.

Odd, of the 4 interracial couples I know, they are evenly split 2 and 2 between male / female and black vs white. The funny thing is, the two couples where the male is black, I’d say all 4 people are above average in attractiveness. The two couples with white males.. The guys are nothing to write home about while the black women are above average. In one case the black women is a doctor and simply stunning. No accounting for love I guess.

Have a look at that article. What it says is that men of all races -- including black men -- find black women less attractive. This makes it a lot less likely that black women will be found in interracial marriages.

That's not bourne out by the surveys by dating sites, which find that black women find white men, on average, to be about as attractive as an arbitrary "average" man of no race in particular. However, white men find black women less attractive than an "average woman" by about 18%. In fact, men of all races find black women less attractive.

So the truth is, it's men -- and not just white men -- who find black females unattractive, and not the other way around.

The trend I notice about many commercials is they typically feature a befuddled and confused white man.
The white guy is usually "rescued" from his plight either by his all-knowing wife or his wise black neighbor.
