Ted Cruz makes Donald Trump his Mitch
The American Thinker ^ | January 15, 2016 | Ed Straker

Ted Cruz showed remarkable fighting spirit in the Republican presidential debate last night, lacing Donald Trump with the same kind of brilliant and witty lines that he's used in his fights against Mitch McConnell.

When Trump's bogus charges against Cruz's eligibility to be president were raised, Cruz turned the tables on him, remarking that Trump had no problems with his eligibility several months earlier, giving this incredible one liner:

Since September, the Constitution hasn't changed, but the poll numbers have.

Trump looked very uncomfortable at that. But Cruz was just beginning. He even pointed out that Trump's own mother was not a "natural born" citizen, and that the same tinfoil hat crowd challenging his own eligibility could challenge Trump's. The crowd roared with laughter.

When Cruz pressed Trump on why he was pushing this issue now, Trump admitted it was because Cruz was doing better in the polls, and the crowd roared.

The audience was clearly on Cruz's side, booing Trump not once, but several times when Trump pushed his birther argument.

Cruz also made the point that Trump was relying on Harvard Law professor Larry Tribe, a far leftist who supports Hillary Clinton for president.

Trump was made to look small and petty as Cruz came out as the first candidate to challenge Trump in a debate and beat him.

I do not hate Trump, I really do not care one way or another about him. I lived in New York City during the 90’s, and he was a stone cold liberal back then.

I was just making a point about Cruz’s statements since you focused on one and not the other.

This is an open forum and I hope we can discuss these things in a rational, adult manner. Especially since I think a loss by conservatives would send this country into a vast tipping point.

Give the forum your history - who you’ve supported.

Why should I?

On the other hand, our Esteemed Founder stated early on that "It's Trump or Cruz, all the others are amnesty pimps!" (exact quote), and your record includes Rick Perry and Scott Walker, what does that say about you?

You know what this, it’s a calculated, political ploy by Trump.

The man has no bedrock values.

“What does that say about you?”

That I back 2 good candidates, who at times were cheered on by the powers that be on FR.

That you won’t tell me your candidate support history (while assailing mine) is priceless.

Well here is another “point” for you to ponder:

It’s not up to you what statements of Cruz that I focus on. Cruz makes the statements, not I.

Got a problem with that?

Go talk to Cruz.

As for discussing things in a rational adult manner, ask my good FRiend DoughtyOne what sort of ‘rational adult’ comments from rabid Cruz supporters/Trump-haters HE’S been on the receiving end of.

Cruz was so brilliant against Cruz that Cruz looked like a deer in the headlights and even applauded Trump responses.

Cruz was served to be honest.

Who is assailing you? You're the poster who wore your unrequited love for Perry and Walker on your sleeve, nobody twisted your arm to do that, and nobody put the megaphone to your mouth to trumpet their sterling qualities.

Put your local Crisis Hotline on speed dial before February 1st, I suspect you're gonna need it if Cruz doesn't win Iowa. You ARE backing Cruz now, aren't you? (sorry Ted, we did all we could to prevent this!) lol

If i ignore all the political hypno rants from all candidates i hear Donald Trump saying what NEEDS and WILL be done when he gets elected.

I’m saying that i absolutely hate the politucal oratory manner thats become the norm. They think they are Pied Pipers. They speak in a manner of using buzzwords, key words for emotion and sentences that just go in circles.

Cruz thought he was doing well, but he instead was taking himself out by setting Donald up to flatten him.

I only wish Cruz would have remembered to remind Trump that he said “Iowans are stupid.” Other than forgetting that, Cruz was brilliant.

Okay, now that I considered Trump as V.P.
I'm choosing John Richard Katich, Governor of Ohio, for my Vice President.

If Cruz comes from way behind and gets the nomination then Trump SHOULD run as his VP so they would have his money to run on.

If we lose this election then unlimited immigration will doom us to Dem rule forever :-(

Sadly....I have my doubts that Trump would take the VP slot :-(

If he loves this country as much as he professes then he WOULD take the VP slot to ensure victory. (He WOULD be a hero, IMO)

I pray for a Trump/Cruz ticket, IMO this is unbeatable!

If Cruz gets the nom and Trump refuses the VP slot I will be very disappointed in him... :-(

I really like both Trump and Cruz.... these are my true feelings on the matter... Trump should run as VP if Cruz wins the nom... if not then we are screwed ...

So what if it is? I'm just remarking that the party (and the people) ought to be concerned too, unless it knows for a fact that Cruz is qualified; and that the better Cruz's chances are, the more concerned they ought to be.

They may have been horrible candidates but they are good leaders (governors).

Trump is a formidable candidate but that does not translate into greatness in office.
