Campbell is being called one of the best suburbs to live in on the West Coast.
Sunset Magazine has named the South Bay city (Pop. 40,584) a runner-up to Claremont, in Southern California, as best suburb and declared that it is starting to emerge from the shadows of nearby San Jose, Los Gatos and Saratoga with an active downtown area and a revamping of the Pruneyard shopping center.
And, with a median home price of $908,000, the publication declares the real estate market in Campbell to be "almost reasonable for Silicon Valley."
Other comparable runner-up suburbs are out-of-state choices: Castle Rock, Colorado, and Gilbert, Arizona.

My god, $980,000 average house price?!
Maybe I’m wrong here but given that price in California, I start to wonder how much of a house you’re getting for that price?
Besides that, the state of California (and local municipalities - after all, it is the Bay Area!) is prboably darn near raking you over the coals in terms of taxes.

Most 2 BD apts of 900 sq ft are going for about 2200/mo
Campbell CA is 2.8 percent black.
I’d prefer a place above the snowline in Arizona.. Keep some of local the varmints away.
Campbell is a high priced sardine in a can we know as Silicon Valley.
It’s always nice to have options but I’m not into sardines. ;-)

They haven’t overlooked a thing have they? Horrific. Truly horrific.

Yes, but they’re not authentic black because to afford to live in Campbell they’re obviously successful, educated, and decent Americans. According to Jesse and Al once a black person leaves the plantation they’re not actually black anymore.
So these poor people are now just plain old Americans instead of hyphenated Americans who need help from Democrats.
Campbell has really gotten much nicer in the last 30 years.
The new downtown area really helped.
I haven’t been there for 50 years but I always liked Campbell. They had some nice shops. I grew up in Willow Glen and Cupertino.
$900-thousand is the new normal for homes in California, in nice areas. Meaning, good places for raising kids without crime, gangs and trailer-trash neighbors. There's a lot of remodeling going on by folks who can't afford to switch houses with the corresponding huge hike in taxes. If you bought long ago, you hold onto your home and do big remodeling projects to keep your property taxes low. As long as you don't completely tear it down, you won't get reassessed as a new home. So, old homes may be worth $900K but people can't afford the taxes on another home if they had bought at existing previously at $40K, hence remodel. This further drives up the cost of homes on the market due to reduced quantities for sale.

Nice area but, Saratoga might be best....If I won the frickin lottery...
