This is the most upset I’ve been about an actor dying since Robin Williams. I grew up watching Alan Rickman.

The only problem I had with him was being in that Tim Robbins’ piece of Commie propaganda “Bob Roberts.”

OMG I’m very confused because had not heard he died. We love Alan Rickman, what a great actor on so many levels. Seemed like a nice man as well. He was a tremendous Snape, a breakthrough villain in Die Hard, excellent in Something God Made, many many other roles.

Wasn’t Rickman involved in some anti-Israel stage work?

Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility, gallant and strong and terribly sad. This was the first character that I thought of when I heard this morning of his death. One of my favorites. My first memory of Alan Rickman was in a Masterpiece Theater production The Barchester Chronicles where he played the "odious Mr. Slope".

That is a great little movie and he is great in it.
His best line of many is when doing a cheesy sales promotion: “By Grapthar’s Hammer ... (long dejected pause) what a saving”

Wasn't Rickman involved in some anti-Israel stage work? Unfortunately, the talented Mr Rickman wrote and staged this reprehensible play in 2005.

Yes, he wrote and directed a play about Rachel Corrie. It generated hysteria in NYC and was eventually shut down. I don’t think Rickman ever played NYC again! He was very left-wing and anti-Zionist. Sadly, a typical Brit.
It’s sad because I saw him on stage so many times and enjoyed his work - particularly back in the 80s before he became a star.

Was great in the movie CBGB, playing the role of Hilly Kristal. He nailed it.

A GREAT villain in "Diehard."He was very good in an Amnesty International (before they went full leftist) sponsored movie called "Closet Land" as the interrogator. It was basically him and Madeleine Stowe as the prisoner.
It was basically a look at how Statist regimes treated those who dared to speak out against them.
I also liked his character, Ed, in "The January Man" with Kevin Kline.
