Ted Cruz is not eligible to be president

Donald Trump is actually right about something: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is not a natural-born citizen and therefore is not eligible to be president or vice president of the United States.

Cruz is, of course, a U.S. citizen. As he was born in Canada, he is not natural-born. His mother, however, is an American, and Congress has provided by statute for the naturalization of children born abroad to citizens. Because of the senator’s parentage, he did not have to follow the lengthy naturalization process that aliens without American parents must undergo. Instead, Cruz was naturalized at birth. This provision has not always been available. For example, there were several decades in the 19th century when children of Americans born abroad were not given automatic naturalization.

No I won't because I won't get sucked into the battle of Trumpers and Cruzers or the I know what the authors of the Constitution meant because I...........fill in the blank. And that's what I mean about the argument being just like the liberals and the Second Amendment.

So far I think I have seen definitive statements from at least ten Freepers on either side of the NBC argument just recently and Only God knows how many over the last few years. After we all got BF'd(not best friended)by oslama on the subject I just can't wanna care about hearing the argument anymore. If it's Trump, I'm OK and if it's Cruz, I'm OK. Up until then I'll just sit back and watch the Freeper wars, sometimes with a laugh and sometimes not.

Birthright Citizenship is exactly the same thing as Natural Born Citizenship, isn't it?

Exactly. That is the test which separates Jindal, Rubio, Haley, Cruz (and Obama) from, say, Kissinger or Schwarzenegger or Granholm.

To answer your questions...NO !

In order to be eligible to be president or VEEP,BOTH PARENTS MUST BE AMERICAN CITIZENS AT THE TIME OF THE CHILD'S BIRTH !

Because the U.S. didn’t exist as a country therefore none of them were born in the U.S.

WRONG !

If that were true, every single Chinese anchor baby, would be eligible to be the president of these United States, if he or she fulfilled all of the other requirements.

It is true.

But the good news is, with two thirds of Congress and three quarters of the states, it can be changed!

Then said "idiot" is an uninformed MORON!

For what feels like the 1,000th time.....our government gives out study guides to LEGAL IMMIGRANTS who having fulfilled all of the requirements are studying to pass the Naturalization test. In said study guide, it is clearly stated that BOTH PARENTS MUST BE AMERICAN CITIZENS AT THE TIME OF THE CHILD'S BIRTH, IN ORDER FOR SAID CHILD TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT.

Just how much MORE "definitive" an answer do YOU need?

LOL, you must be a lawyer. Want to explain the difference between "naturalized at birth" and "natural born"?

“Of course, Obama, while fully Natural Born, is not an American in his own mind. But that is a whole other discussion. “

Good point. It could apply as well to Nikki Haley.

Our Government, the government of the USA, gives out study guides to those who must pass a test to become naturalized citizens. In said guide, OUR GOVERNMENT clearly states that BOTH PARENTS MUST BE AMERICAN CITIZENS, AT THE TIME OF THE BIRTH OF A CHILD, IN ORDER FOR THAT CHILD TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RUN FOR THE PRESIDENCY !

Such a "study guide" is, of course, not a legal document, and if your above assertion regarding said guide is true, then, unfortunately for Cruz birthers, it amounts to nothing more than misinformation, and the only question is whether the claim was intentional or unintentional. Regardless, it has no legal utility.

Try again...

A Statute would be a good start.

Because the US didn’t become an official nation until 1983 and the Constitution wasn’t ratified until 1787. So a person would have to be a new born to be an official US citizen by birth.

“Any idiot” might look at the only other law written by the framers that used the phrase “natural born citizen”:

Because the Constitution fails to define the term “natural born Citizen”, establishment of its precise meaning would fall to Congress or the courts. The only US law that has ever employed the exact term “natural born citizen” is the Naturalization Act of 1790:[4]

And the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered natural born citizens: Provided, That the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States: Provided also, That no person heretofore proscribed by any state, shall be admitted a citizen as aforesaid, except by an act of the legislature of the state in which such person was proscribed.

So government bumph isn't good enough for you?

It's killing you that Naturalized citizens know more than you do about this topic?

You refuse to believe this because it hurts your candidate?

You believe me to be lying?

All of the above? LOL

I would love to see a copy of one of those documents.
All I’ve ever seen is the Constitution which states the president must be at least 35 years old and a natural born citizen. The Constitution doesn’t define NBC. However a person not born a citizen who becomes one later is said to be “naturalized.” So a person born a citizen is “Naturally Born” a citizen. Therefore Cruz who’s mom was a US citizen was a citizen at hits birth and is therefore NBC.

They recognized themselves (or many of themselves at least)as mere citizens of the Unites States at the time of the adoption of the constitution but, not as natural born citizens of the United States. because many of them were born in Europe. They had stillpledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor hwever so it wasn’t reasonable to exclude them from POTUS eligibility. George Washington was recognized as a natural Born Citizen as both of his parents were born on US soil.
