There they found Mary Ann Landers dead on the floor and her husband, Wesley, unresponsive in the bathroom, says Cincinnati police Lt. Stephen Saunders.
Mary was found in the room with a needle in her arm, Saunders says; and though police believe that she overdosed on heroin, a drug has not been determined.
Wesley was found in the bathroom, also accused of overdosing on heroin, with a needle also in his arm...
The parents – who Saunders says have a second daughter – traveled from Trinity, Alabama, to Cincinnati for their daughter's tracheal reconstructive surgery, according to AL.com, as the girl had been born with a too-narrow windpipe.

It was not immediately clear who has custody of the Landers' daughter. Saunders says it is likely that family from Alabama will be notified and travel to Ohio.
The girl's surgery was a success and she is recovering, officials told AL.com.

A needle in one arm and a gun on the other. Dead wifey had a gun in her purse. There’s a movie in that story, maybe with Nicholas Cage and Lindsey Lohan.
Sounds like the best thing that could have happened for their children, since they were hardly nurturing parents.
Don’t forget drug dealers are non-violent criminals.
I wonder - did the father take out a loan to pay for the surgery in advance? Or was that the mother’s responsibility?

They must have gotten a hold of some pure uncut stuff and couldn’t wait to try it out even in a gun free zone.
They are from near here. Bizarre story. Almost like a suicide pact.
Never had heroin, but did have IV morphine more times than I could count. I guess it is similar to heroin. It never gave me a feeling I wanted to pay to repeat, except for its pain killing ability.
The nurse was busy charting in the EMR and the pharmacy was out of naloxone.
I’d like to know the rest of this one.
I have had IV morphine as well. While I have no intention of being a heroin addict, I was thrilled to get something to alleviate the pain. It was a miracle.
When you have huge kidney stones, I highly recommend it.
