More than any political candidate in memory, Donald Trump's value proposition to voters is simple and crystal clear: He's a winner.
Everything else follows from that. He doesn't owe wealthy political donors or political elites anything. He'll get the best trade deals and kick the most terrorist ass. He'll defy political correctness and tell it like it is. ISIS will give us its oil. Mexico will pay for our wall. Corporations will beg us to relocate their factories to the US.
Why? Because Trump is a winner. "We will have so much winning if I get elected," he assures us, "that you may get bored with winning."
This message has proven astonishingly resilient, to the point that the entire US political class is flummoxed. Attacks just bounce off the guy. What could ever bring him down?

>>The idea that a winner attitude is a determent would suggest that a loser attitude is a positive characteristic attribute.
That right there is the cancer that has infected the American psyche. Too many people think that losing well is more important than winning well.
We’ve been losing since Reagan left office. I’m tired of it. I want to be in an America that can produce a movie like Rocky III and not feel the need to insert of bunch of defeatist BS so that those we beat feel good.
Your sister isn’t a potential SC nominee (I presume). And most importantly, and ,RCs point is this: is the sister indicative of the type of person he would appoint to the court.
Because as much as many trumpeters scream about immigration being the most important consideration, SC picks are JUST AS important...if we get a couple of ginsbergs on the court this American experiment is over.
Fair enough.
Doesn’t anger me FRiend...just disagree. I think trump is much more likely to fail against Hillary, I think his bombast will work against him when going up against a (sort of) woman.
I am so sorry. It won't happen again. Not noticing that your coffee cup was less than half filled is unforgivable on my part!
Ditto
[Is Trump being a winner a singular explanation for his support? Hell no. Trump loves America and us. That is far more responsible for his support. People believe that he sees America like we do. For the most part, he loves the things we love, he doesnât like the things we donât like. He values education, hard work, and standing up for beliefs. IMO those values have more than a little to do with his being a winner. And...heâs not a politician.]
Well put.
What amazes me about Trump is 2 things I heard him say that show he is in touch with average Americans. He said once that the fed holding down interest rates left Americans with nowhere to invest their money but the stock market, which was risky and bound to fall again. And another time he said the Obamacare deductibles were so high that it made any care unaffordable.
Now a multibillionaire probably isn’t affected by those things but the fact that he recognized what millions of Americans face was surprising to me, after decades of politicians that are so far removed from the people- and couldn’t care less.
[How sweet would it be for Cruz to be Mitch McConnell’s boss.]
That would be justice.
Your tagline is great!
[One of the issues I have with Trump is that I don’t think of him as a serious candidate ... mainly because I still can’t figure out why he even wants the job.]
Some of our greatest presidents didn’t need the job (to advance their careers), but felt they needed to help the country. It’s a huge sacrifice of time and in Trump’s case, money.
The circular thinking in this article is making me dizzy. But wait, folks: he is quoting a PhD candidate, so he must be right!
Where is humblegunner when you need him?
Let me start out by saying that I am a Cruz supporter and generally agree with everything he has said so far. And I am likely to vote for Cruz first and Donald second. BUT, Donald is doing something so important here that I am very happy with his campaign and I would be very happy with Trump’s election. I am Cruz first, Donald second, and nobody close in third. Christie and Graham never.
I have seen candidates say the right things and do the opposite. Both Obama and Bush said they would use the Army less and lower the deficit. Neither did.
But more importantly, the last two presidents had no real knowledge of the job. They were both there because they fit the suit. They gave a good speech or shook a lot of hands. In short, they could get elected. But they did not run the government. For the past 16 years we have been electing Queen, not Prime Minister.
Normally when there is a major candidate, its really a trinity. There is the guy you see. There is the guy behind the guy who actually runs the politics and government. And there is the billionaire or two. Our frustration is that the front man just says what he thinks will get him elected and does not stray to far from what the billionaires want to hear. The behind the scenes guy doesn’t care whats said. He is going to do what he want’s anyway. Think Cheney cared too much what Bush said? Like Cheney was going to change policy because Bush gave a speech?
Trump is the trinity all rolled into one. This is HUGE. You get to see the Billionaire. You get to see the behind the scenes guy. Just that alone is worth voting for. If Trump wins the shell game is over for awhile.
And the second reason Trump is so important is that the GOPe and the media have become corrupt. We think that reporters are supposed to uncover corruption. But who uncovers corruption in the media. Well, Trump did just that. Exposing the media is a great thing. And Cruz did jump on this bandwagon. My vote is at least 40% against big media. Remember the media is just a bunch of billionairs. Bezos, Buffett, Roberts, Murdoch, Saudi Princes.
The GOPe is another large area of corruption. In the end, these guys sit on a large pile of other people’s money. And they wield power by doling this money out to those who obey. Well Trump does not have to obey. And Cruz does not obey. So these two scare and piss off the GOPe respectively.
Just look at the last two bills through congress. The last one to defund Obamacare was written to be vetoed. It was written for us. It was not expected to get passed. There was no part of it that would get the president to sign it or to make him look bad on any other issue. But the budget bill was expected to pass. It was a huge pay back to all the money givers who had bought politicians over the past 2 years. This was a GOPe quid pro quo. And it was a democrat quid pro quo. Lots of donators got their moneys worth finally.
So Trump is very important. And many people will vote for him, because he is not perfect. And he has not even told us what he will do. But he has not lied to us yet. And the media can go after him, that will embolden his supporters more. And the GOPe will go after him and that will embolden his supporters more. And there will be democrats and independents who vote for him, just like they voted for Reagan. Remember they said all the same things about Reagan that they said about Trump; He was too dumb, He was too extreme, He had no national government experience. He wasn’t electable. And yet he won two landslides.
Obviously, Trump is on top, so this speaks well of him and his life skills and abilities.
Personally, I still don't know what to make of Trump at this point, but, of all the candidates, he is the only one whose life experience gives me comfort.
One of the attributes of a consistent winner is knowing how not to lose.
Point goes to Trump.
The GOPe and pretty much every republican in recent memory knows how to lose and some are really good at losing BIG!
Point, again, goes to Trump.
If I'm gambling, I'm buying a chance at the biggest lottery in US history, not chance hoping a proven, consistent loser might go against the odds and win this time.
I think Trump is the only one who cracks the map open. Trump opens up the mid Atlantic, upper Midwest and even some New England states. Cruz, Rubio et al don’t open the map at all.. At best you wind up with who has the better GOTV game in a few states.. Nothing changes fundamentally no matter who wins that sort of thing.
Awesome! The broken window theory worked in NYC, and now in Trump’s candidacy. If Trump wins, he can apply the theory to the whole nation.
Find out HERE. :-)
Wow. Shows how hated Trump is. They are TERRIFIED of him.
I’ll have no trouble voting for Trump in the general if he wins the primary. I’ll have no problem with voting for Cruz in either the primary or general.
Right now, I think Trump is likely to win the primary. Cruz has good positions, but lacks charisma. Trump lacks charisma as far as I am concerned - strikes me as a dork - but my tastes are not shared by many Americans. If they were, folks wouldn’t waste time watching TV & Obama would have lost in 2008, let alone 2012.
There is something very substantial about Trump.
I’m not just talking about his great wealth.
The guy has something, very strong. I believe he is exactly what America needs.
Both parties have been selling out America for over an entire generation. Big time.
Trump is saying exactly, what I believe.
Exactly.
And he has the independence, the wealth, and the popularity to make a huge change in America’s future.
For the better, I think. Very enthused by what I have seen thus far.
Thing is, I don't trust my strong tendencies for infatuation in dating, cars, guitars or politicians, not anymore, so I've been working on just being an observer so far this election season.
Had Trump not gotten in the race, I probably wouldn't have a reason to pay any attention at all.
I've completely given up on the republicans to ever be more than demonrat lite. To watch them is to hate them, just as it is with the demonrats only stronger since the republicans have lied their way to votes and power every time, but last time BIG time!
And then, in walks Trump...
