Might be similar to (if you or others) recall that some California town wanted to eliminate military and allow it’s police force to repel invaders (cause they’d be breaking the law... or something).
I wonder if the “cover up” didn’t make things worse? I suppose you would still get fined, but it would sure sound better for all involved to have the article saying they called wildlife officials when they were able to tell them about the accidental shooting of the second bear. Instead of flying out another tag, covering it up, etc.
Situations like this, I need to remember when I get caught up with conspiracy theories. A few hunters alone in the remote woods of Alaska accidently kill a bear and they can’t keep it covered up!
