You don't often see "retaliated by withdrawing the medical benefits critical to his nephew's infant child" in profiles of political front-runners.
But Sunday's New York Times article, discussing Donald Trump's relationship with his late brother Freddy, includes it at the bottom. Then came the unveiling of Fred Sr.'s will, which Donald had helped draft. It divided the bulk of the inheritance, at least $20 million, among his children and their descendants, "other than my son Fred C. Trump Jr."
Freddy's children sued, claiming that an earlier version of the will had entitled them to their father's share of the estate, but that Donald and his siblings had used "undue influence" over their grandfather, who had dementia, to cut them out.
A week later, Mr. Trump retaliated by withdrawing the medical benefits critical to his nephew's infant child. "I was angry because they sued," he explained during last week's interview. But hey, no worries; I'm sure that cutting off medical care for an infant won't come up in attack ads in the general election.

Let the parents pay for the child’s medical care. Why would the child’s uncle be liable for the expense?
Did he chop off a baby’s head, or suck its brains out with a vacuum, something Hitlery celebrates?
The formerly conservative National Review (now a mouthpiece of the GOPe) continues its series of hits against Trump. Their earlier efforts didn’t work...and this latest one won’t either.
This is not your father’s National Review.
You can just smell the fear in this transparent smear attempt.
Agreed. The NR is a trash dump.
Yeah you’d think that this forced his brother’s family to wait in line at the Free Clinic and panhandle to buy the medicine.
Haven’t loaded NRO since July and never will again. They are dead to me.
The Trumps all work for the family businesses. I’m sure the nephew was employed in a family business that provided healthcare for its employees. By cutting off this infant’s health insurance, Trump made it impossible for the child to be insured, due to a pre existing condition.
Or work to make sure that babies who did survive an abortion were then killed because they survived the initial abortion. Like Obama's only claim to fame as a state senator from Chicago.
The GOPe is quoting the NY Slimes.
That’s all I need to know.
Bull Sh!+.
They could do COBRA. They would just have to pay the premium.
And thanks to ObamaCare, they couldn’t be denied elsewhere for pre-existing conditions.
This was about 35 years ago.
Those of us who read this crap just get angrier and angrier at the GOPE. I assure you they are in full out panic and gnashing of teeth. They literally self destructed down in the Mississippi Senatorial run off. They self destructed with steadfast determined capitulation to obama and the ratification of a $20 TRILLION debt. They self destructed by nation building where we have no business— they actually wanted to attack Russian planes in Syria while those same planes are killing ISIS fighters. They are pathetic. But the great positive news that came out of it is that they pissed us off. BAD.
Wasn’t this a long time ago?
Anyone old enough to have experience a parental death, with or without money, knows human nature is at its worst during inheritance battles. Rich parents can choose to leave one kid nothing. Been there personally. Poor parents can leave children scrapping over a broken down sofa. I’ve seen similar fights.
Advice: Don’t waste your life fighting over money.
I’m not for Trump, but I can give you this advice. Don’t waste your emotions over something so small. It certainly shows research has been thorough. If this is the best they can scrape up then I wouldn’t worry.
Inheritance fights are nearly always ugly. Oh the stories most people over the age of 50 could tell.
Untrue. As a mom who had a child born with a heart defect, I can tell you there is no coverage available other than having coverage when the baby is born. If that coverage is canceled, the pre existing condition prevented coverage as the system was then.
