Ted Cruz isn't only surging in the polls -- he's now in second place nationally and leads in Iowa -- he is also raising a truckload of money. In the last quarter of 2015 alone the Republican presidential candidate received almost $20 million from his supporters.
Not bad for a grassroots candidate who's despised and hated by his own party's leadership team.
Small wonder then that Cruz bragged about these results during a phone call with supporters, adding that he's confident he'll be the Republican nominee -- soon:
"Thereâs a very good possibility that the Republican primary will be decided by the end of March."
That doesn't mean, however, that he believes it's going to be an easy ride. Quite the opposite in fact: he also warned his supporters to get ready for an epic battle, telling them it would get "uglier and uglier and uglier."
"Weâre winning right now, and as a result, I want to tell everyone to get ready. Strap on the full armor of God. Get ready for the attacks that are coming. Weâve already seen hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars in attacks directed at us. Well I went to tell you that come the month of January, we ainât seen nothing yet."
He added:
"I want to encourage everyone to get ready, because starting tomorrow morning, we are in a 90-day sprint to win this nomination, and then to turn around and win the general election. To defeat Hillary Clinton in November of 2016 and to turn this country around."

I never liked the program, but:
“Behind Trump’s Appeal? ‘You’re Fired!’”
https://reason.com/archives/2015/09/08/behind-trumps-appeal-youre-fired
“My own explanation of Mr. Trump’s appeal is that it stems from the two-word sentence for which he’s best known. If you had to attribute a phrase to Donald Trump, what would it be? Not his nonsense about “rapists” from Mexico or “blood coming out of her wherever” about Fox News’ Megyn Kelly. No, the phrase that really made Trump world famous is the one he repeatedly used to cull the field on his hit show The Apprentice: “You’re fired!” In 2004 he even applied, unsuccessfully, to trademark the phrase.”
The Conservative Treehouse is run by a Catholic. Is that what you mean by promoting the authority of man over the authority of God?
Yes you do. You keep bringing it up, but, since you are as stupid as you are dishonest, you don't realize how easy it is to check what you claim you researched.
and their support of your boi
This is another lie on your part, at least, in terms of what you're worried about. You didn't spread lies about that blog because they supported Trump. You spread lies about them in response to them documenting Breitbart's (your employer's) hanky panky with Cruz's megadonor and how they were giving data on their readers to the Cruz campaign's psychoanalytical group.
You showed your true colors when you felt the need to dive head first to defend your paycheck. And in response to this, now you want to paint the blog as biased and unprincipled, because you know your dishonesty and ulterior motives are being exposed.
and making one off hand mistake.
A "mistake" is like getting a date wrong, miscalculating a math problem, or remembering something. Claiming you did research on a blog you never did is not a mistake, it's a lie.
“Unfortunately, most of the people posting in this thread are not Christians at all”
And you are able to make this judgment on what basis? Your deity, you know intimately all the posters on this site? Can you just go ahead and reveal the future of the next century for us. That should be easy for you.
By measuring the sheer volume of foam coming from their snarling mouths as they rant and rave self-righteously.
It is a pity that Donald Trump, with all this bombast and showmanship, does not have the conservative credentials, the political skills required to govern inside the Beltway, or the integrity to be an effective president of the United States.
Now, my opinion is just as valid as yours and neither one gets us anywhere.
Nathanbedford - thank you for the apt quip/retort - too many finding one inane reason or another to trash both of our best hopes...
About all you ever hear about Cruz from his supporters is that he is a “consistent conservative”, a “true conservative” etc. It is like a cult on its own. I don’t post much anymore to his true believers, asking them to explain Cruz’s votes for Obama’s agenda. You would think that a divine conservative such as Cruz would not want to touch TPA, the Corker bill, would not call for legalization of illegals, etc.
Cruz, in response, just deflects by wrapping himself with the flag of Christianity. He does it for the sake of Iowa, and to raise money from Christians.
I’m a Reformed Presbyterian who has studied the Bible and debated unbelievers, cultists of all sorts, such as the gnostics, Mormons, Jehovah’s witnesses, Armstrongites, or groups like the Eastern Orthodox, Federal Visionists, Roman Catholics, for more than a decade.
********************************************************************************
That’s funny...anyone claiming to be Presbyterian is “Reformed”. Perhaps you meant you are a member of an actual still-Bible-believing Presbyterian church (such as the PCA) instead of a “mainline” Presbyterian church which has “progressed” beyond believing in the Bible?
If turning off and alienating your supporters was the objective then yes its working...
‘They are what they are now, a one subject pimp blog that intellectually violates what they claim to stand for.’
What makes you an expert on a blog you OBVIOUSLY don’t read? Because if you read it, you’d realize the above statement is false.
“Whatâs godly about four bankruptcies that destroyed contractors and other small businesses?”
Yep, Trump is the first and only businessman that has declared bankruptcy (four out of hundreds of businesses) that left some people in the lurch. I don’t really believe that you think that anyone believes a bankruptcy, in and of itself, is godly.
this is where you miss the point.....he is not the first businessman to destroy the little guy in business...BUT HE IS THE FIRST BUSINESSMAN TO DO SO AND THEN TURN AROUND AND RUN A POLITICAL CAMPAING FOR PREZ BASED ON HELPING THE LITTLE GUY!!!!
Why can’t you get this through your noggin?
It’s my opinion that Trump supporters should get busy now with whatever they can do to support him. He doesn’t need our money but he can always use on the ground help everywhere it can be given.
This thread and one other has convinced me that Trump supporters should get on with doing what they can for Trump as their preferred candidate and leave Cruz supporters to their whatever.
It’s impossible and unproductive to try to debate the Brother Bill and Sister Bertha Better Than You types that Cruz has elicited with his last exhortations. Whatever you say that’s positive about Trump will be immediately interpreted as “unchristian”, or contrary to the Word of The Almighty.
I’m not sure Cruz was wise to open up that avenue to further his campaign but he did, so, we’ll see.
My faith is deep and my walk with my Savior and The Almighty is personal. No one else needs to know the details of my firm beliefs except My Lord and My Creator. I see many Christians on here being drawn into a discussion of their faith when earthly politics is the matter at hand. Denominational differences should have no bearing whatsoever on the political discourse, but it seems that Cruz supporters can’t separate the two.
I don’t know whether Cruz intended to influence the discussion in this way or not. The fact that he did so repulses me and greatly diminishes the respect and admiration I had for him at the beginning of his candidacy; even though I support Trump for President. Cruz’s faith is not the issue for me, but rather that he sought to profit from it by baiting his followers to work for him in its Author’s Name. I find that off putting to say the least.
It would behoove Trump supporters to stay out of time wasting and unproductive debates like these. If Cruz supporters could stick to policy, debate would be fine, but they seem unable to do so for the most part. The issue of religion has been going on for hundreds of years with no settlement and there won’t be one until Our Lord returns. Until then, we have alien invaders pouring across our borders, mass killers being installed in our very neighborhoods, muslim haters waiting to run over us or chop us up anywhere anytime and foreigners being imported daily to take our jobs from us. Those things are just for starters. We should concentrate on electing a President that will help us defend ourselves against those things and the right to practice our Christian faith in safety, not arguing about our brand of faith and who’s right.
Not an expert, but I did read their about page - and pulled several quotes that are terribly inconsistent with support of Trump.
So while my first statement was false, the rest of the statements are 100% correct. They are a libertarian leaning conservative blog - so they say. The poster sundance contradicts that daily. Libertarian leaning conservatism is a truth, not an opinion. He runs afoul....
your logic is an epic failure. If he were doing what you think he’s doing, his fundraising and his polling would be going down.
Oops....kinda sucks when you step in a steaming pile, doesn’t it? Go clean your shoes. Spray some febreeze.
The Christian church in America is desperately sick. There is little good about it.
*********************************************************************************
Well then...it becomes clear that you don’t get around Christians much...with your exposure to “Christianity” mainly involving seeing televangelists. There are a lot of us “Bible-believing” Christians still extant. But perhaps you simply run in different circles.
I don’t care about you, whoever you are....you don’t exist....puny human is not real, your opinions are meaningless, but your obsession with me is priceless and amusing. Being a condescending plick hiding behidn a bizarre screen name is the ultimate in cowardice and gutlessness.
I don’t care about you or that blog. If I mistate something about you or it, it’s out of bored non giving a damn.....I don’t care enough to bother to lie about you or it.
Remain obsessed with what I said one time a month ago.....it continues to prove my point.
But he’s given no, absolutly NO, indication that he’s going to fire government workers. That’s not who he is. In fact, with what he wants to do on immigration and health care and so on, he’s going to GROW GOV bigtine and rapidly.
You are projecting what you want onto him because you like his style and his history and abilities. The style and the abilities are fine....but your projecting is going to come back to haunt you....at some point.....when you realize none of it was accurate.
âMy own explanation of Mr. Trumpâs appeal”
Could it be, could it possibly be, that Trump’s appeal is based on the positions he takes on immigration, trade, political correctness, protecting the country, etc.?
