Happy New Year.
I promise there will be some actual 160-year-old information to present later on, but for now let us continue catching up on . . .

Life, liberty, property.
The supreme God-given, unalienable rights.
All stolen from the slave, by the slaveholder.

Didn’t you get the memo? That has been changed to:
life, liberty and the the pursuit of social justice. I learned this at Mt Rushmore National Park.

Glad you are finding them of value. We are getting sort of close to the end of the pre-160-year-old part. I expect we will get there this month. I hope this exercise has inspired a few people to buy the book.

Homer, I thought I would leave a post to my WWII friends.
George "Joe" Sakato just passed here. He was a Nisei whose family left California to avoid internment. He joined the Army and was assigned to the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. In fighting to free the Lost Battalion in the Vosges, he became enraged when a buddy died in his arms. He charged the Germans and singlehandedly killed 12, wounded 2 and captured 4, then went on to help capture 34 more. His Distinguished Service Cross was upgraded to the Medal of Honor in the 90's.
I had the privilege of meeting him at a VFW banquet a couple of years ago. He was quite a man, in peace as well as war.

“I am aware that many object to the severity of my language; but is there not cause for severity? I will be as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or to speak, or write, with moderation. No! no! Tell a man whose house is on fire to give a moderate alarm; tell him to moderately rescue his wife from the hands of the ravisher; tell the mother to gradually extricate her babe from the fire into which it has fallen; â but urge me not to use moderation in a cause like the present. I am in earnest - I will not equivocate - I will not excuse - I will not retreat a single inch - AND I WILL BE HEARD. The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal, and to hasten the resurrection of the dead.”
— William Lloyd Garrison, abolitionist, The Liberator, volume 1, issue 1. January 1831.
