Agreed! Take as just one example the Andy Griffith Show. The black-and-white ones featured Barney Fife and Floyd the Barber. Hilarious!
The ones in color had few of Barney, and few of Floyd. Pass.
I could offer more examples, but it's time for a Leave It To Beaver rerun.
Agreed. In the same vein, as a kid, I thought Fred Mertz was a welcome break from Lucy Ricardo- and I still do.
Both my dad and I have always had a penchant for enjoying the "second banana" characters like Stuart Margolin's "Angel Martin," Jack Riley's "Elliot Carlin," etc.

Yeah, so obscure a big-budget movie was made based on it a few years ago. They blew it, but it’s hardly obscure if you have any knowledge of TV history all.
Actually, “The Avengers” is my all-time favorite series.
The one who was always high on coke or booze? Another fantastic character.
I may actually have to find that show and watch it again. It's been so long, it will seem almost like new.
That list jumps the shark right at #27.
Fred Sanford should be much higher than #37.
Whut about Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob and Princess
Summer Fall Winter Spring (leaving her out is RACISS!)
No love for Fox’s first hit sitcom? Al & Peg Bundy.
Jennifer Saunders was fantastic in that role.
Perry Mason certainly beats Louie DePalma and I loved Taxi.
Ironside should be on there somewhere. I haven’t seen the list yet.
Where the heck is Dr. Johnny Fever?
Riverboat ring your bell!
Fare thee well Annabelle!
Luck is the lady that you love the best!
Natchez to New Orleans!
Living on Delta Queens!
Dum -de-dum-de-dum!
Da-da-dum-de-dum-dum-dum-de-dum!
that would be Patsy
This was my take as well. Perry Mason, too.
I didn’t watch a single episode of Taxi.
Big Bird
I beg your pardon but The Avengers was not some âobscureâ show from the 1960âs. It was outstanding television of the kind that is completely extinct today.

What network was it on?
Yeah. Obscure.
Dr. Johnny fever should be in the top 10, easily.
Barney the dragon. /s
One of the most appallingly funny scenes ever on TV was when Howard was playing fetch with the mayor's freshly recovered dog, in a third floor office, the ball bounced out the open window, and the dog followed it.
That, and when the cop is explaining to the TV cameras how the helicopter dropped the cow...
Not one Gay Character? (Well maybe Xena)
Wow, the LGTF mafia is going to be real pissed
Not to mention only 2 Blacks. (Though despite his personnel troubles - Bill Cosby should be in the top ten)
