I am a lifelong sportsman. I grew up in Texas, hunting with my Dad. I'm not sure if I learned how to ride a bike or shoot a gun first, but it was close either way. In addition to creating lifelong memories shooting and hunting with my father, I was educated on gun safety from a very early age. I was taught well, and became a very responsible gun owner and enjoyed sport shooting and hunting into my adult years.
But then something started to change. I don't quite know what happened; it just seemed that firearms started becoming faster, more powerful and more plentiful. Mass shootings became more common and much deadlier.
Then, in 2012, Sandy Hook happened.
I had recently become a father, and like every other father I hugged my kid just a little tighter that night. Then I walked into the living room, and started to cry. All those children, not much older than my daughter, murdered. Humans have a unique capacity for being truly awful to each other, but a more senseless tragedy cannot be imagined.
That night, I called a few of my friends who I knew to be responsible gun owners and gave away the guns I owned.

Tell me, mat, (lower case "m" intentional) did you properly transfer all those guns you gave away legally through a Federally licensed gun dealer? If you had been serious about your epiphany, you would have turned all your guns into the police for destruction instead of giving them away to your buds, looking for Liberal brownie points.
Let us in on your thinking, mat.
Do you believe that your guns would have induced you to carry them to your child's school and start blasting away, or what? Do you trust your buds enough to not take your guns and just turn them loose and another New Town to just "happen?" How were the guns in your custody more dangerous to society than in the custody of your buds you gave them to? Were you having homicidal thoughts about shooting up schools or large groups of people in malls or at Christmas parties? Had you started reading the Qur'an, joined a Muslim Mosque, or, perhaps been wandering around Isis propaganda Facebook pages lately that might have made you more dangerous than normal, or were you just your average everyday normal psychopath having second thoughts?
Enquiring Freepers REALLY want to know if your pathology is engrained in your blue blood genes or did you merely put it on with your blue jeans that morning. Please, mat, help us out here.
Well put!!
Damn, I wish my guns were breeding and evolving in my closet. I'd love my .22 long rifles to get together and beget a nice .223 or maybe I'd settle for a couple of .22 hornets. Perhaps a couple of my 9mms could procreate and give birth to a .457 Casull. Dare I hope for twins?
Maybe my AR-15s could evolve into something a bit more hefty. . . or just mature and develop a selector switch? What I'd really love is if my ammunition would just start multiplying by fission. . . overnight. Two becomes four, four eight, eight sixteen, etc. Who needs reloading when mitosis creates all the ammo we need.
I know. . . I know. . . Gun Control. . . anyone got a gun condom????

LOL, roger that.
An interesting fictional account, I think.
This sportsman is a woman.
I hope she gave them away to people more aware than herself.
Silly. Everyone knows you need to buy only gay guns if you don’t want them to be reproducing.
After you’re done sniveling and holding your children “just a little bit tighter”, you should lament the fact that daddy didn’t give you even a smidgen of common sense. I truly pray that some insane, drug-crazed maniac doesn’t come into your home intending to inflict harm on those children you hold so dear. Maybe you can hit him with your purse...
More powerful is also confused.
The WW2 M-1 Garand is as fast to fire as any civilian semi-auto rifle today, and the M-1 30.06 cartridge has several times the foot pounds of energy over a 5.56, consequently also more range, and more deadly at longer range.
So it is arguably much more deadly and devastating, even through a wall, than most any ‘modern’ ‘assault weapon’ today.
-but don’t expect logic and facts to get in the way of the scare tactics aimed at the ignorant. The left has that down to an art.
A cop's [police captain] nephew shot up a bunch of kids. No word yet on if he had help.
Former Captain James Champion retired from the Kingston NH PD, but still works as a police officer. He says he hadn't seen Adam Lanza in the last eight years, but he didn't want to discuss the cause of the shootings. Or where his got te police-only weapons from.

I CALL BULLCRAP!
Wait till she finds out what they've been doing in her garage.
