Rock Band 4 Leaderboards Wiped After Score Exploit Found

When it comes to competitive gaming, some players will go to any lengths to make sure that their names remain in the top tier of a game’s history. In the case of Rock Band 4 from Harmonix, it looks as though some players have managed to use exploits to reach otherwise impossible scores for the game’s online leaderboards. The developer has gone to somewhat extreme lengths to address the issue, however, as it has wiped the Rock Band 4 leaderboards

It turns out that the game was released with a number of bugs, including one particular issue that has proved of interest to Rock Band 4 drummers. It turns out that some gamers have been able to deploy Overdrive twice on runs of songs, by hitting the green overdrive gems that can be found at the end of dynamic drum fills. This has led to some outrageous live scores.

Will this somehow affect my Pacman score of 124,500 at the local pizza shop’s machine? Because I devoted many quarters and many hours to make that leaderboard.

I have now lost all faith in humanity.

The only faith I have in humanity is that people will always find new ways to debase themselves.

When people are willing to cheat and lie about the absolutely inconsequential stuff- i.e.- Rock Band leader boards- what hope is there that they will do the right thing (or even recognize what the right thing is) when it’s something that actually matters?

Back in college we had a summer field camp in Manitou (?) near Colorado Springs. Not much homework, and I lived in my truck near an arcade. At the end of field camp I had all the high scores (5 or 10) on a pinball type game called “Hyperball”.

Four years later I drove through there with my soon-to-be wife. I had to stop in to see if the game was still there and play it. It was! One other person had managed to get their initials up in the midst of mine. Pretty sad that after 30 years I’m still real proud of that!

Is auto tuned considered music?

If out of tune noise can be computer altered into “in tune” music are the performers still considered musicians?

If I write garbage but a word processing program turns it into rhyme, does that make me a poet?

Is there a paint program that will change my splashes of paint into a Rembrandt?

Have all of these questions been generated by an A.I. program?

If it is like any other 30 year old pinball machine, with the unsteady legs and three bumpers not working, and a weak paddle, it is not a surprise. Doesn’t anyone maintain those things anymore? Love them when they are new.

Congrats on the honors.
