Donald Trump: Mean Spirited GOP Won't Win Elections
Newsmax ^ | 11/26/2012 | Ron Kessler

Posted on 12/26/2015 3:11:05 PM PST by conservativejoy

Ronald Kessler reporting from Washington, D.C. , The Republican Party will continue to lose presidential elections if it comes across as mean-spirited and unwelcoming toward people of color, Donald Trump tells Newsmax.

Whether intended or not, comments and policies of Mitt Romney and other Republican candidates during this election were seen by Hispanics and Asians as hostile to them, Trump says.

"Republicans didn't have anything going for them with respect to Latinos and with respect to Asians," the billionaire developer says.

"The Democrats didn't have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren't mean-spirited about it," Trump says. "They didn't know what the policy was, but what they were is they were kind."

Romney's solution of "self deportation" for illegal aliens made no sense and suggested that Republicans do not care about Hispanics in general, Trump says.

"He had a crazy policy of self deportation which was maniacal," Trump says. It sounded as bad as it was, and he lost all of the Latino vote," Trump notes. "He lost the Asian vote. He lost everybody who is inspired to come into this country."

The GOP has to develop a comprehensive policy "to take care of this incredible problem that we have with respect to immigration, with respect to people wanting to be wonderful productive citizens of this country," Trump says.

I don't care what Trump's positions were in 2012.
What matters is NOW.
What Republican candidate has straight out called for a wall to be built on our Southern border?
What Republican candidate has called for a ban on Muslim immigration?
Now go get your shinebox and post something about Trump supporting Universal Healthcare and post the obligatory pic with Trump and the Clintons, and then beg us to vote for Jeb! or else Hillary will win.

This 2012 article just exposes that Trump had the opposite position on immigration just 3 years ago that he has now. If he had been in a position to vote his view, he wouldn’t be running now.

His stance on immigration and what he has been saying is costing him money and business opportunities , it makes no sense that he is doing this to gain something.

And yes your view can change in a short time, in just a year i went from a hardline atheist to a Lutheran Christian

Trump was wrong in his assessment of self deportation. Remove incentive for illegals coming here, and the will leave. Trump needs to understand this. While he’s still learning, his staff needs to crank it up and dig deeper on these issues. I’d love to send Trump a bullet point list of topics for his staff to review.

posted to show that trumpees could care less about any of trump’s positions and that he shows no consistency to support anything he says now.

Hey, you're right! Just like the GOPe Congress we gave 2 mid-term landslides to!

So what do we got to lose by voting for a loudmouth who never held elective office, when we should vote for quietmouths who do as they're told by the DNC, media, and K-Street.

Cruz was calling for a wall in 2011 when Trump was still calling Romney mean for suggesting self deportation.

Cruz has sponsored legislation to halt immigration from 34 countries with active terrorists cells.

come on man.

you know that both have had wording issues with illegals.

I don’t want to pick a fight, but don’t lie to yourself.

maybe trump means it, maybe he doesn’t.

I hope he does.

trump does things for trump.

not saying that’s bad or good.

Yup. Eliminate the incentives. Don’t reward illegal behavior. Donald, are you listening?

Looks like he’s one of the only things keeping this country going right now — breaking the spell of despair, hopelessness and lethargy coming from this administration.

Reminds me of a old Unix fortune cookie I read: “In every corporation there is somebody that knows where everything is and where everything should go. This person must be fired”.

Aside from the recent poison pill amendment/kerkuffle, remember too that Cruz is from Texas so he has all the businessmen pushing hard to find a way to get some labor (preferably cheap) working the fields or wherever. That he would try to find a workable solution for his constituents does not surprise me.

Later in the debate, the Dems true intentions (dem voters) became evident and he called their bluff. Sessions wouldn't support him otherwise.

A Christian conversion is a unique and holy experience.
This change in position is political expediency. The Art of the Deal.

What could trump possibly gain from saying this stuff?

He is already facing boycotts in the middle east because of what he has been saying.

The only logical thing is that he actually means what he says

i’m for the guy, but 2nd not 1st. Cruz is 1st.

but don’t you at all ask yourself why he thought differently only several years ago?

and how Is he going to make wholesale deportation seem kind?

Romney sounded mean?

he called them rapists and murderers. And not their best.

we’re not gonna get that vote anyway. let’s focus on getting one or the other into the generals lest we end up with a rino.

if It IS close between trump and a rino and Cruz is out, i’m voting for trump.

See my tagline.

What about it? I have no problem with Cruz. However, Cruz does not have a winning path to the nomination. The evangelicals will split with him and Trump, and Trump will take all of the blue-collar conservatives and independents.

Blue-collar voters are the key to next year's election. They are overwhelmingly in Trump's camp. Cruz's crowds are a fraction of Trump's crowds. They watched how Cruz supported, and then flip-flopped on Obamatrade and the media will bring up his wife working for Goldman's Sachs.

The remainder of the vote will be split among the rest of the Republicans. Cruz is a debater, when what we need is a bare-knuckle brawler.
