This is a petition to honor Miss Elizabeth (the Fort Hood Hug Lady) by posthumously renaming the Fort Hood Deployment center the Elizabeth Laird Deployment Center.
Miss Elizabeth has doled out more than half a million hugs to soldiers leaving and coming home from Ft. Hood. She's touched so many lives. For some, her's was the last hug that they had on this earth. For others, her's was the first good thing that happened to them when they got home. She was there days, nights, weekends, holidays... rain or shine, Miss Elizabeth was there for our troops.
And she did all of this while battling cancer.
Please help us honor this great lady by putting pressure on the military to rename the Fort Hood Deployment center the Elizabeth Laird Deployment Center.
Please sign and pass on this petition.
And, if you want a good cry, read the comments on the petition.
My husband had six hugs from Miss Elizabeth and he looked forward to them coming home.
“She sent me off to war three times and hugged me each time when I came home safe. God bless, Miss Elizabeth.”
She’ll always be ‘Miss Elizabeth’ to us.
People don’t know that the troops would look for her when they got off the plane!
She never let them down.
This old, retired wing-nut signed it.
I remember hearing of Miss Elizabeth some years ago. What a sweet lady.
