Merry Christmas EVERYONE! 1. Is Windows 10 worth the download and OS Change? AND 2. Should I Take my Bride to see the new Star Wars Movie tomorrow?
Ho ho ho, very clever. I'll have to remember that..........
Apple.
Apple.
I’ve owned this iMac since 2011.
Zero problems. Updates come down the ‘net.
Windows 10 will not be complete until some time in 2016. I’ve had a laptop with Win10 for a week or two. Not long enough to give a real review. I like it better than 8.1 for usability. I use machines with Linux variants for OS as well as all the Windows server OS and Window 7 and 8.1.
Double check hardware and software compatibility with the vendor NOT with Microsoft.
Retail vendors are selling laptops that they have upgraded to 10 by someone other than the original manufacturer. Several of our customers have experienced serious issues with driver compatibility. The upgrade does not always get it right.
Hope y’all had enough for ‘you n ‘em’, and that the gifts made folks happy.
Now!
1. Is Windows 10 worth the download and OS Change?
ANSWER: expletive NO!!
AND 2. Should I Take my Bride to see the new Star Wars Movie tomorrow?
ANSWER: Ambivalent. a/ it’s disney, not 21 Century Fox.
b/ read all the storylines and subplots when paperbacks were published in the 1990’s, amid all the other 230 books of the subject. No amount of crash, bam, boom on the screen in regular or hidef can replace what the human mind can generate when given the picture to create for itself.
My oldest son and I are going to see Star Wars VII this afternoon. I can still remember when I took both of my sons to see the first one. Damn I’m getting old...and so are they!
IF you do W-10, you might want to heed some of the things in this article:
I did install it on a troublesome mini laptop we have and it cleared up the previous issues that were occurring. As usual, users preference but from things I’ve read it can be very intrusive if you don’t actively protect your privacy as much as you can. Still, if they want it, they’ll get it.
Star wars? Haven’t gone yet but once school is back in session, we may go forth.
DITTO.
A 2 hour cartoon, I be saying...
Star Wars - yes
Windows 10 - no or at least not without turning off the spy-ware included.
Absolutely to both questions. 10 is fine and Star Wars is terrific! Great nostalgic romp. Ray is fabulous and Ford still has chops. Great fun! Cool message as well.
I’m afraid to go through the headache all over again that 8.1 was at first. I’m taking a wait and see this time.
My wife couldn’t care less about the Star Wars fantasy. Her idea of a movie has tall manly, honorable men, and women with honorable virtues. Her dad was almost a twin of John Wayne in looks, voice, personality, posture (even the way he walked).
The ‘Force’? If there is going to be a reference to a higher power that represents all that is good, but can’t come out and name Jesus Christ, then neither she nor I are interested in helping to fund it. That’s my 2 cents.
Merry Christmas!
if you want full functionality in 10, you have to enable all of Microsoft’s spyware. You also have to open an account at the Microsoft store and buy add on software to do what you could do for free under 7 (or go to a 3rd party vendor). It’s really hard to access your bios menu compared with the ease under 7 and earlier versions. I’ve had it for a few months on my little-used laptop, but don’t know if I’ll ever put it on my main box. All that being said, what you get does seem to run smoothly, and boots seem a little quicker.
As to your bride - make life easy on yourself, and take her to a chick flick. See Star Wars on your own time, unless she’s a fan and can name the two best episodes in order, and hates the 3 prequels.
Don’t know about 10.
Star Wars - YES! They can take the last three and throw them in the trash. Well done film. It was nice to see they got away from CGI(ing) all the characters. Star Wars is fun again.
Yes and yes.
If you want your every keystroke and mouse-click reported to Microsoft, the NSA and the WhiteHouse, then, yes, indeed upgrade to Windows 10.
As far as Star Wars; I’m waiting for the DVD.
Ask your bride...not me.
1. Yes.
2. No. Let her keep thinking you’re grown up.
Windows 10 is better than 8.
BUT!!!! Make sure your software will work with it. I have a small fortune in engineering software that is not longer supported with Win10. To upgrade that software is in the $7500+ range. Hardly a good return on investment just to use the latest OS.
Not sure about Star Wars. I haven’t gone to the cinema in over a decade. I might go see it just to remember my first trip seeing the original series with all my family. That was about the last time I’ve seen them all together.
Yes and Yes
