Getty Family Dad Wants Millions from Dead Son's Estate

The father of Andrew Getty, the socialite son who died back in March of ulcers and meth, has filed legal docs to collect a fortune from his dead son's estate.

Gordon Getty, the son of J. Paul Getty, has filed a creditor's claim for $14.1 million. Gordon, who famously negotiated the sale of his family's oil business to Texaco for more than $10 billion, claims he bankrolled his son for years, with loans totaling more than $10.6 million.

Gordon also wants to get back some of the priceless art pieces he loaned to his son ... 55 pieces in all worth more than a million bucks.

Gordon also wants the estate to repay him for various expenses incurred by Andrew. It looks like Gordon bankrolled his son's life.

Gordon Getty is worth a couple of billion, in his 80s, and has two families. http://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-2nd-getty-family-an-open-secret-20150331-story.html

Glad I’m not rich. When I go, there won’t be much of an estate to fight over.

Sadly, the size of the estate is not always the deciding factor.

My guess is this is about estate taxes. Supposedly father Getty gets his estate due to dying without a will, child, or spouse.

He dated my girlfriend’s best friend in Laguna Beach (he lived in LA). Every time I saw him he was wasted. (half a dozen times or so.)

WIKI Gordon Getty was raised in San Francisco, California, attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory, University of San Francisco and earned a B.A. in music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He married Ann Gilbert in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Christmas Day, 1964. He has seven children: four sons with his wife, Ann Gilbert Getty, and three daughters with his longtime partner, Cynthia Beck.

He joined the oil business to please his father; however, he eventually sold the family’s Getty Oil to Texaco in 1986 for US$10 billion. In 1983, Forbes magazine ranked him the richest person in America with a net worth a little over $2 billion.[5] His current net worth is cited as US$2 billion, making him the 212th richest person in the United States.

Getty is one of the nation’s leading venture capitalists and philanthropists. In 2002, he donated US$3 million to the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation, a charitable trust. Though a Republican, he is a major fundraiser for local and national Democratic Party candidates, and has contributed to the campaigns of Nancy Pelosi, Willie Brown, Gavin Newsom, and John Kerry.

He’s a Republican but a major fund raiser for Democrats like Pelosi and Kerry?

How much did he hate his son to finance his destruction? What horrible parenting.

He has blown $8 billion since 1986?

His net worth is now $2 billion?

Ivanka Trump should get a lot of credit for raising her three children to be successful business people. Children of the rich so often turn into disasters.

That idiot Conrad Hilton is a perfect example. At least Paris Hilton worked hard to turn her name into a successful business.

Gordon has been mentally instable for many, many years. I recall his dad had to pay a ransom of the offshore Neutral Zone mineral concession to get him out of a Saudi jail when he was the Managing Director for Getty in the ‘60s.

That concession contained part of the largest offshore oil field ever, so that was a big ransom paid.

http://www.nytimes.com/1984/04/22/business/oil-heir-gordon-p-getty-steering-a-new-generation-out-of-oil.html?pagewanted=all

” Within a year, Gordon Peter Getty was put in charge and given a delicate chore - to collect a substantial debt from the local Saudi governor.

But the task was interrupted when a Getty truck driver, perhaps drunk, ran into a pipeline. Afraid of being jailed, the driver and his supervisor fled. Authorities then placed Mr. Getty under house arrest for 10 days, convincing him to leave the zone, too.

‘’Father thought I screwed up,’’ Mr. Getty remarked the other day, in an interview in the Pierre Hotel. ‘’But it was his idea that I get tough with them, press for payment. He thought I could have done it more adeptly. He said I used poor judgment.’’ After that, J. Paul Getty - who died in 1976 at the age of 83 - never gave Gordon another supervisory job. He used him primarily for trouble-shooting assignments in the company’s far-flung operations. “

“Timothy Ware Getty: Born to J. Paul Getty’s fifth wife, Timmy developed a brain tumor at the age of six and was left blind. After years of seeing specialists, he died at the age of 12.

According to a memoir published by his fifth wife, Louise Dudley ‘Teddy’ Lynch, in 2013, her husband admonished her for the cost of the medical bills. Getty, who was living in England, did not attend his son’s funeral in the U.S. and the couple divorced that year. “

Would it be inappropriate to note that, like Kim Kardashian, her fame took off after the, uh, accidentally on purpose release of her ‘private’ sex tape?
