Political correctness. That's what ruined Christmas.
Fortunately I have a massive Christmas music library and I'm cycling through that right now. I've been collecting Christmas music for over 30 years and I pretty much have it all.

I’m not a fan of the silly songs, but I hit the roof when Sirius XM dropped their Holiday Pops station except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
That was the only station that played classical (religious) Christmas songs.
What’s on regular radio is hideous.

To: rey
A local here does. Light 96.9. They play everything. What I hate, tho, is the modern pop which ruins it. “So This Is Christmas” makes me want to throw the radio through the window. As well as “Do They Know It’s Christmas”. Both in minor keys and sanctimonious.

I mentioned to someone the other day something similar. I have yet to hear “Silent Night,” Sinatra's version is exceptional, “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” or “O Holy Night” unless I play it via YouTube or another option. I have heard “All I Want For Christmas is You” seemingly every time I put on a channel or walk into a store.

I just figured out the one thing FR has been missing all these years - background music. We could select from a number of different genres depending on the thread...
Oh shoot, I need to shut up and patent this right away,,..

It is a shame he is gone (RIP Glenn Mitchell), but we used to have a guy here in Dallas (NPR station, and he was a lib) who did a 6-hour show of silly Christmas songs every year. It was something I looked forward to every year.

Search YouTube for "Dr Demento Christmas" and it will yield hours of good results. Sample
here. for part of his 1976 Christmas show. I actually listened to this show that year as well as other years during that era.

I don’t like the silly ones, but I do love Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
